I have discovered the only food saltier than a block of salt.

Do you know how many calories that is?
It sounds soooo good .. and I need to know for my "full proof" calorie counting diet.

I just got up to go look, and had two while I was up 😀
They are only 10 calories each, but it's the sodium
you have to watch. It's 155mg of sodium per olive
(the ones stuffed with feta). I don't think they'd be
as high in sodium if you bought them fresh from an
olive bar (some grocery stores have them). I plan
to do that next time I'm at Stop n Shop. 😀

Black olives, ftw. Green make me :xlime:

And whoever was the one who mentioned something about popcorn, I read that and totally went and made some. 😀

You're lucky that was Bella, and not me! :dom:

I prefer queen (or larger) sized green olives stuffed with a jalapeno pepper. Although I dunno if they sell those in the less Southwestern areas of the country.

They sound great. I'm just really glad I can eat whatever I want without getting fat.

Have I been a naughty boy, mistress? Please don't spank my bottom, I'll be nice! I promise!:punt:

BWAHAHAHAHAH

she's so submissive that even seeing the word "Mistress" while used in comparison to her, automatically is read as "subby-sub-sub". 😀

The only point of my post was to highlight that while Atkins can help you lose weight, there are much healthier ways to lose the weight. If you could lose weight on several different programs, why not pick the one that is the most friendly towards your body? Effectiveness of the diet itself isn't the only thing in question. You obviously want to read the book before you go diving into one of these programs. If you read the Atkins book, then why not look into the book I recommended? I wasn't trying to bash anyone's method of losing weight, but the science behind good nutrition and weight loss doesn't lie, and in that regard Atkins isn't the best choice. I was only trying to help a fellow TMFer make a good decision by giving more info. Knowledge never hurts.

You're right, knowledge never hurts, and that's why saying that Atkins is unhealthy without knowing the truth about it does people a disservice. I own the Abs Diet, David Zinczenko is a great author and his Eat This Not That! books are truly awesome. BUT, his Abs Diet is really just the later stages of Atkins, which is wonderful but no help to people like Mondy or myself who need to break their addictions to sweets and sugars before they can learn to eat properly and control their portions 🙂

If you are addicted to sweets that can be an extremely difficult habit to break. I did consult with my doctor along with a good friend who happens to be a registered dietitian before I went ahead with the Abs diet. They both told me that while Atkins works, there are better choices out there when it comes to dieting and that often times what's good about Atkins gets a little confused. That is why I made the post. I wasn't simply speaking out of my ass, but perhaps a better explanation would have been more suited. My situation was also a little different than what you are talking about. I was simply trying to improve my overall nutrition, not necessarily lose weight. That said, there are a lot of rumors regarding many popular diets that should be debunked before moving ahead. Just wanted to help. Good luck! 🙂

I soooo love those! We have a local grocery chain here that has an "olive bar" and I'm there all of the time. The feta ones are great and the bleu cheese ones are yummy too. Damn it, now I want some.....

I hear you 🙂 What kills me is how often even doctors and nutritionists give false info about Atkins, because it goes against what they've been taught and they won't educate themselves on it even though it obviously helps so many people. They'll tell you "no Atkins, your body needs carbs", and when you inform them that you're eating plenty of good nutrient-rich carbs, all you've done is trade crappy processed foods and high fructose corn syrup for green veggies and quality meat/fish and low sugar fruits that are full of antioxidants, they just blink at you and go quiet 😛

The average olive has 933 mgs of sodium. The recomened daily amount of sodium is 2300. Bust out the water and blood pressure pills!🙂

Sometimes it's just my penis that does the typing.

I mistype when I do that...keep hitting the surrounding keys as well.

Anyways, black olives better than green. Feta cheese better than jalepenos.
And stuffed vine leaves beat all of 'em. 😀

I agree, I like the high quality black olives so I thought I'd like the better green ones. Nope :xlime: Meanwhile, they are salty as hell but you're supposed to have a small handful, not the whole jar; some of the healthiest folks in the world follow a mediterranean way of eating with lots of olives and their blood pressure is just fine

Some people have a genetic propensity against heard disease etc, and so can indulge in such succulent diets with little worry for their health.

Unfortunately, people of south asian descent are not among them. 🙁
