I thought maybe I should make a topic about my game.

Assuming RM2K3 here. Database -> Classes -> (Pick a class) -> Double click the exp curve picture -> choose the experience per level tab. Now start playing with the sliders until you see what you want.

If you want to do it even more easily, edit the exp awarded from the bosses to give enough to give players the exp needed to go from the level you think they're at to the level you want them to be. E.g. if it lists level 5 as taking 100 exp and you expect the player is level 4, award 100 exp. That will admittedly leave the exp from grinding random encounters as the mere rounding errors that they are, IMO, right now. People who run from random counters will thank you, the others can still grind if they really want to, though grinding will still suck.

If the curative items were affordable, stuff like paralyzed would be okay, as it would just mean "the afflicted character is out until a clean character spends 1 turn bringing them back in." (I don't know whether tickled is a removable status, though.)

Bosses don't give exp.

I'm fine with raising exp and gold, and for at least level 1-3, I definitely would plan on it, but I don't think I have to do it too much past the first area. I think it's not too bad later on.

Yes it's possible to do that ,but if you fight against the Mimic for example ,you're going to use all your curative items ,because the last time I've fight against it ,it have just spam me with Tied&tickle attack ,making my characters tickled and paralyzed at the same time ,so healing one only make it able to be paralyzed again next turn :blink

Yeah, you're not actually supposed to be able to beat him for a long time. n_n;

The updated version seems to have fixed my issue, thank you for posting it. I haven't gotten very far past that, but so far it looks resolved.

One, one of the options in the menu is an Active/Wait toggle. Would anyone happen to know what the toggle changes, if it changes how encounters occur or anything?

The Active/Wait option if for choosing how you want to fight.

Wait : Pause the battle until you've choose your next action.Enemies can't attack you until you've made your choice.

Active : Don't pause the battle when it's your turn to choose an action ,if you don't act quickly ,enemies will keep attacking you.

The Wait option is made for beginner and/or for those who don't want challenge.
The Active option is the opposite ,for those who want challenge and/or have the habit of playing quickly. ^^

So, after playing some more, I have to get to the valcano, I have 2 lvl 4s and 2 lvl 5s, any suggestions on what to train on?

Well if you want, you can try going through the volcano, just not finishing it.

Also, you could even try completing the volcano and just saving in a different slot for the next dungeon, if you want to attempt it.

As for training, naturally tougher enemies give more exp, so you could even attempt training in the volcano, if you want. The volcano has a crystal in it. It's one use, and it raises any party member to level 7. Also, if you can, you could go South of the volcano and eventually run into level 10 monsters in the wastelands.

Aside from that, there's the graveyard, the cave with the slimes, and the forests around Harmony as far as least to most exp rewarded.

Thanks for the advice, I'll just try those areas and see which ones work out the best. 😀

Is there anywhere to go to get revived on the second continent? Or am I going to have to skiff all the way back to the guy in the starting city?

There's another city past the bridge where you can get revived at the church.

There's also the optional boss of the mountain, which gives you a tome to teach a character the life spell. Other than that, yeah, I believe it's life water or the first town.

Lurker I have a question about a skill, for the dancer class I learned a skill called Capoeira and it's suppose to damage all enemies, but the problem is that it's never highlighted and I can never use it. Am I suppose to use a specific weapon? Or an item?

The skill is a fist/martial arts skill. To use it, you have to equip a fist/belt weapon from one of the dojo challenges. Then it should work.

Now that I'm (momentarily) done bitching about the levels since I got past and have somewhat accepted my early mistake (still kills me Maria is 700 exp less than everyone, but now that I'm level 4 for everyone, it isn't really as bad), I've got a couple questions.

Goth's spell Offering. What on earth does this do? Sacrifices a teammate for...what reason? Does the character gain anything, or do I just kill a teammate for giggles?

Vampire Fangs. I picked these up and found out Maria (my Goth), was the only one in the party that could wear them. Put them on, found it increased my attack to over 500. I thought "Wow, this has GOT to be a bug". Went to test out this godlike power. So I fought an enemy...aaaaaand Maria did 3 damage. Ok, I thought, maybe her spells changed. Nope, same damage on Darkness. So, the running shoes tickle torture the victim, but give them incredible speed? So then what do the vampire fangs do?

When you have moments in the game where you can choose responses, do these change anything at all aside from what dialogue you see? Such as the event after the spiders in the Refresh Shrine; do my choices have any significant impact?

Well if you want, there's the new version that has the boost monsters in the class shop basement.

Offering can be used (not so much now, but later when you have more options open) as a potential choice to bypass tickling statuses. "Tickling!" is pretty brutal. Otherwise, no, you don't gain anything from it.

The vampire fangs were kind of an experiment on my part. The "drain" style spells that goth gets are influenced by attack. So I had this idea to make an item that would actually allow you to make sort of a sub-class build and specialize in drain. So I tried making it raise attack as high as I could, but it's a weapon type every enemy is extremely resistant to. It didn't really balance the way I wanted it to. But I left it in because it's some weird, curio shop anyway.

Choosing responses in the game is usually for determining which ending you'll get.

I wondered that too. The only thing I came up with is once a character dies and is revived, any negative status effects disappear. So if you have a character that under multiple negatives, you don't have the fixes for them and it's a long fight, that's a quicker way to get rid of them. That's all I could think of.

Lurker do you have an estimate on Josh's hp when you fight him the 3rd time? I have a lvl 8 and 3 lvl 6s. I could kill him easily with the silk rope but the sky darkens so I have a limited amount of turns. Guess Ill have to train now. I'm trying to get as many events as possible without taking the time to level. 😀 and yes I made it through the prison with them to...wasn't easy though.

The battle should stop after he takes 7250 damage.

If you can beat them, the enemies in the ruins area give a higher proportion of exp compared to exp for next level than the enemies of the previous few areas.

Alternatively. If you head South of the ruins, and just a little West, you can attempt to raid the pyramid of its crystal. It's better than the volcano crystal.

I saw that and went to test it out. Very...interesting fix. I feel comfortable at least buying the required crapload of status curing items.

Huh...wait...Drain is based on their attack? Is it just Drain or are all Goth spells based on attack? So are the Vampire Fangs a 500g item that's essentially worthless? Glad I overwrote that early save where I bought them. :blink

Ahhh ok. I'll have to ponder my responses now when I choose. Should be interesting.

Teammate: Uggghhh I'm so sick.
Me: That's ok! I'll make it all better! -holds knife to their throat-
Temmate: 😵

Would YOU party with someone like this!?
Besides, I dunno if you can buy them but there ARE Remedies which cure all status. If anything, you kill your ally, rez them, then try and heal before they get 1-shot or they just get loaded with statuses again.

it's just a temporary fix. I'm going to more or less overhaul monster gold and exp in the start, make the party start with some gold, etc. I just wanted to get that issue out of the way so people can play the rest of the game, don't get discouraged and quit, etc.

It's just the drain type spells that are based on attack. The thunder and darkness spells are mystic. I'm not entirely sure about "worthless," I might have some ideas for it, but yeah, I'd definitely tell anyone at the point of the game where you are to not bother trying it out.

Remedies don't cure the tickling statuses. Really, goth is a good class, so it's not so bad if a skill is less useful than others. Offering is just a little misc tool you might find some use for, might not.

The punk's cheapshot I kiiinda feel the same way about, although I do want to make that one a little better.

The valkyrie's threaten I just flat out ran into limitations with RPGM, so it functions a little odd. =/

Well, I'm too weak to get the pearl key from the tower, so Lurker do you have any suggested areas for me to visit? I went through the cave a beat the slime blob again. I beat the wood golem and visted the town with the green women. I have 2 lvl 8s a lvl 9 and a lvl 7.

Did you visit the cave Northwest of the bridge?

Aside from that, you could visit the pyramid. It's in the desert, below the ruins.

I also remembered that a later dancer skill, pasodoble, does damage based on party attack. So vampire fangs could be used to make a team of expert vampire pasodoble dancers.

Yeah, I couldn't really find much in the cave. The puzzle was a little complicated for me. When I got to the doors with the switches It lost me. I also went to the pyramid but couldn't get the order for the puzzle right. Got any hints for me? 😀 and I also forgot to visit the hq so I still got him them the pearl key.

HQ? Did you beat Josh 3?

Well, the puzzle image is the front view of a spider. So to the side, you'll have the legs, and those are pretty long. The spider also has long fangs in the front, and those feet are upside down, making the toes look like fangs.

Yeah I beat Josh 3 😀, Yeah I figured it had something to do with the size of everyone but couldn't quite get the order, and also lurker this game is literally my dream game. Beside the length it takes to level, it just amazes me with the quality you added to the scenes. When this game or if this game ever gets finished, It will probably be one of the best games if not the best game on the forum in my opinion.

Thanks I'm glad to hear it. It means a lot.

I'll probably make it a little easier to level in the final version (I mean where you are now, as for the beginning of the game, there's already no question I'm fixing that.)
