Idea

Also while the art is being rated they can prepare for next month-desu 😛

Oh, good! i was a'feared this whole idea was gonna die stillborn. Good to see things may indeed begin to take shape.

Let's do it! :super_hap

Just don't shape it into Tobi! One is more than enough 🙂

I like the idea of monthly contests, perhaps alternating between art and stories. A question that a member posed to me: how narrowly should the art be subdivided: e.g., should anime be in a different contest from Western art, and should tk content be divided by gender (F/M, M/F, etc.)? Also, which contest would everyone like to start first?

Well, since there would be monthly contests, why not make 'themed months'? For example: one month of F/F art, then one month of F/F stories (or together), then a month of M/F...
Though, there is a problem: would the artists pool be big enough to cover such a large number of categories? I mean, seeing how some artists like to write F/M, some like F/F, etc. I'm afraid that would leave us with one or two competitors monthly, everything taken into account. Also, dividing between anime and western art would make it even less people per category. I'd suggest to run the 'all-around' test tournament, where all of the artists and writers, of all the gender and art categories would compete, and then see how many people will actually apply. Then, using that number could future groups be created accordingly.
So, I suggest we make a general competition first time around, and then split if the numbers allow. You'll probably need to know how many people will compete (I, for one, won't).

Here the quality should count over tickling... Tobi means that adding 30 pages of "HAHA..." does make an art good. That also means that no matter what gender is included into story, the story's layout and 'cuteness' counts.

Excellent idea. We've agreed on a two-week announcement period (which can be lengthened if we need more replies), a month to produce the creative work, and a month-long voting period for stories (two weeks for art). All that remains to decide is whether the first contest will be art or stories, and how many contestants we need to hold a fair contest; I would recommend at least four. I also think that each contestant should only have one entry per contest, with a small set of art (up to three pieces) counting as one entry.

Tobi can't believe it that someone actually listened to him... Tobi is so proud and cuddly at the moment. HUG FOR EVERYONE!

As for the number of contestants, I'd say the more the merrier. Though, I'd agree that four would be minimum.
About the first contest, I'll leave it up to the admins. Since I'm not competing, it's all the same to me. I just like to help organizing things🙂
As per only one entry per contestant, I think that goes without saying 🙂
The times given seem very reasonable.
Well... all that seems to be left is, as you said, to decide on stories vs. art. I'd recommend the one that has seen less activity lately, to try and bring new life to it (as this seems like the point of competition).

I'm really excited to see this is actually going ahead. 😀 This is a really lively forum even at the worst of times, but something like this will probably be a big hit.

I hope that it flies, too! :super_hap

I mean, the vast majority of visitors to sites like the Theater pop in long enough to d/l a clip, and then :😛oof:: they disappear, until the urge returns. Some of them I see online alot, and I peek into their UserCP long enough to see that they've been members since like, `05, on a weekly basis, and have never even bothered to post. Not so much as a "Howdoyado?" or a "Thankyekindly" in YEARS of regular visits!

Bad people, who add nothing to the equation. They suck.

So, it's nice to know that some few are here for all the right reasons.

LET'S DO THIS!!!

I think that Stories has seen lower activity than art, so I'll begin it there. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions, and good luck to our entrants!

Tobi raised two fingers, but it seems Little Miss Val read his mind... that must have been a terrible experience 😀

Good luck to all from me, too!

(sneaks in and steals Duke Diablo's ink cartridge)

Duke Diablo's ink cartridge is dried out, as he hasn't written anything in ages, and doesn't plan to compete.
Well... seems like The Four have assembled already... looking forward to seeing what comes out of it.

Tobi decided to try his luck now, even though he has tests for the academy acceptance. All for the sake of TT... and some quality write time 😀

GAH! Now that I've gone and committed to it, I have Instant Writer's Block®! Thank God we put a decently long time-frame on the thing.

Well... that's why the deadline is one month🙂
I believe every writer can write something in a month, no matter the circumstances.

Well... the contests are all heated up. Four was assembled in less than a day. This will really be interesting.

The only thing that worries me, actually, is will we, the readers, have time to read those all?😀

We might have to extend the judging period if we get more than a dozen entries. I'm surprised and impressed with the interest level in this!

Lol! I must say I'm amazed as well... never would have thought that the competition would be so fierce.
Well, if there are any problems left with organization of the competition, I'd be happy to help in any way that I can (well, with advice, if nothing more).

Ho Ha! Mine's up, bitches! I may not be able to claim "Best of Show", but by jingo, it's the first! Woot! 😛aw:
