I really, really hate it when I get into a series and then the author falls off the face of the planet. I understand that the people who write these stories for free have no obligation whatsoever to finish their projects, but it still happens to be one of my pet peeves.
For example, the Stocksvill series.

Two EXCELLENT stories, and then it dies. Big disappointment.
Feel free to share similar cases. I'll post more as I think of them.
Heh,well, i never really fell off the face of the planet. I've been here, but as far as this series goes, i might as well have. It wasn;t planned for me to stop writing this series. Looking back at my notes, i actually started on the third part a month or so after the second part was finished. So, why did i never finish the third part?
Hard to say really. I admit, that, for the most part,i can be a thickle writer, and was particulerly so in my younger years when i started this series. So, it is possible that i simply saw something shiny, or got another idea for writing a story and started on that instead. One of my biggest problems as a writer is the fact that i have so many story ideas coming at me at once, it can sometimes be difficult to focus.
However,i think my biggest problem when it came to picking the series back up again, was when i wrote a particuler story called "My Black Rose". This story, IMO, was a person highpoint for me. I accomplished something with this story that i had never felt before. It was more then just a tickling story, at least to me, and going back to writing simple "Wham-Bam-thankyou ma'am" stories just didn't appeal. I needed something more. I wrote more stories, but they never fulfilled me the way i wanted to be. Eventually i just lost the interest to write those types of stories, instead focussing on what would be a sequel for "My Black Rose". I started that sequel probably 6 years ago, give or take a few months. currently,i think it;s 80 some odd pages long, which while decent, is still a long ways from being finished and a poor turnout for such a long period of time.
I had lost something. I would try and write, even some different stories, but it wasn;t the same. But several months ago, during a discussion with my brother, I was hit with a story idea. Suddenly i began writing like a man posessed. Every day, while at work, i'm writing by hand on pieces of paper. I don;t think i've ever writin this freely before.
This new flow of writing made me begin to look over some of my older works, and by chance, a few weeks ago, i was looking at this particuler series, and pulling up the third part again, i began working on it. I hadn;t done too much work, my life a bit bussier these days, and my main focus being on my other story, but i managed to get a few pages done. Then, i get a PM in my inbox from MTJ, about this series no less.
I was flattered by his interest in the series, and that, combined with this thread, and the original interest in getting this story finished has inspired me to really sit down and focus on it. For the last few days, i have been chugging energy drinks and typing. So far i've gotten about 10 pages down, and still have more to go. I imagine the third chaptor will probably be about 25-30 pages when finished.
I imagine this chaptor will seem a bit different then the other two, simply because my writing, while perhaps not getting posted, has evolved, IMO, over the years. Hopefully people will like this new style. Please stay tuned, and hopefully i'll have this done by next week or earlier.
