I agree with the sentiment that the screaming from the rooftops approach isn't the best. In fact, I would extend that to certain activists on sexual and orientation topics as well. In short, discretion is appropriate, whether you're trying to encourage someone to be open to your interests in a relationship or whether you're trying to encourage tolerance or acceptance in society.
