Is it possible to to be unbiased when analyzing your fav players or your fav teams

I don`t think someone can be completely unbiased when analyzing favorite players or critiquing your very favorite teams play.

I think everyone unintentionally looks at fav players/ teams through :roseglasses:

I just believe it is too difficult not do so especially when you have so much PERSONAL attachment to players or teams. I `m not saying this is bad; the last several sports threads had me noticing this even more than usual.
 
it possible.. watch i shall do it right now

the steelers defense is susetiple to the screen and the short passing across the middle because of the blitzing schemes they run... its also possible to pass deep on the defense because polamalu does so much that you never know where he will be so he may not be behind to help the corners.. and the corners are extremly over rated... ryan clark is the worst player on our defense but he delivers big hits so he starts over tyrone carter who in my opinion is the better free saftey... the defensive line isnt that great because they are old but they are able to get it done because the linebackers are so good..

jeff reed the kicker is good normally but whenever it gets past 45 he is sporadic

our punt and kick return and coverage teams are always at the bottom of the nfl

our offensive coordintaor bruce arians needs to be fired because he is terrible at calling plays

big ben is a great quarterback but is just as capable of costing us a game as he is of winning one.. i hold my breath almost every time he throws deep and he rolls out of the pocket and runs to much for his own good, because he is going to end up hurt...

willie parker cant run for the tough yards and cant bang it up between the tackles... and has to come out on 3rd down because he is poor at pass blocking and cant catch

hines ward is a hall of fame reciver and i cant say a bad thing about him

santonio holmes drops the ball too much and smokes pot and i dont expect pitt to resign him when his contract is up because they dont deal with players that have off the feild issues..

heath miller is an absolute beast and nothing bad can be said about him

our offensive line is terrible and is going to get ben hurt


there its possible.. but there are a lot more good things then bad and i choose to talk about and focus on those rather than the bad

lol ok, but all those things are true.. its easier to see the flaws in a team when you watch them every week.. im sure you could list a whole slew of things wrong with the cowboys because you know them more than non fans.. if anything its easier to be unbiased againist a team when your a fan but as a fan you choose not to be
 
For me, no. It is not possible for me to give an objective, unbiased opinion of a member of he Dodgers.

For that matter, nor can I give an unbiased opinion of one of the truly evil bastards who plays for the hated jints.

It especially is possible if you like a team

If you focus on a team, you can see more\pay attention to the flaws and defects a team may have

Like for my teams
Bears-worthless secondary and offensive line that needs to retire but both decent enuff in a shitty nfc north
Sox-No viable center fielder, correction, viable center fielder but ozzie guillen wont play him for whatever god known reason plus ken williams is batshit crazy, esp since he is now trying to literally reassemble the 04-05 team
Blackhawks-......cant find any flaws right now, they have been playing near perfect hockey, just Kane tends to draw too many penalties when frustrated
Bulls-fire del negro, fire the entire team, let Rose play by himself, he can't do any worse than already, besides it would prob be an improvement. Bulls are a jumpshooting team that cant jump shoot
 
I think, if anything, true fans of a certain team are more aware of their shortcomings. We expect more from our teams and are often the first to notice when they don't perform up to our expectations. As a long suffering Vikings fan, I'm well aware and vocal about our ability to have a great regular season and fuck it up in December and the playoffs. Our propensity to give away playoff games we should win. Our inability to ever match up a great quarterback with a great defense at the same time. It's always one or the other.

When posting on boards such as this, we often at least publically overlook the shortcomings to show support, especially when one of our teams is in the playoffs. We try to tell ourselves and others all of the reasons why our team should win. However, deep down, we do know the real deal, moreso than folks who don't follow our teams.

I'm sure, for all of the bluster, there are a lot of Steelers fans and Ravens fans who are looking at this Sunday as a game that's going to be a hard-fought win and are honest with themselves about the reasons.
 
Being the loyal fan that i am, i still find it easy to slander my own team. i never let my heart interfere with my head. :paranoia:

Monteal Expos/Washington Nationals are horrible too.

Tampa Rays were bottom ten until last year... maybe still.

Florida Marlins deserve nomination for twice gutting their team and being cheap bastards.
