*Sigh* I do hope everyone realizes that this thread was originally created to ascertain what was happening at the TMF, not to start a debate as to which forum was better or worse. Everything in life has its good points and its bad, and internet discussion boards are no exception. If the dislike of the TMF is so severe as to provoke this outpouring of vitriol with no provocation from the TMF, then far too many people have adopted the mentality of many an extremist; namely, that it is my way or the highway. There are things to like about the TMF, and then there are things to dislike. The same goes for the Theater. This isn't the first time I've seen such opinions, and I truely hope that they can be shaken off. Animosity and enmity towards anything or anyone for no justifiable reason only breeds hate and conflict. Disliking one thing and displaying a preference for another is one thing; actively despising it serves no purpose whatsoever. Temper your hate with a dash of tolerance, it can do wonders. Accept and coexist, not abominate and condemn.

Just a thought, take it for what you will.

This is what I agree with and take issue with as what I refered to as annoying and one-sided. A fair and legitimate question was asked and soon after it turned into how great TT is again. As I said, nothing wrong with some forum pride, but I've noticed this pride mostly shows itself when other boards and sites are mentioned, even indirectly like this occurance. Its seems almost paranoid and uncertain of TT to be doing this. If it's so comfortable with it's level of service, it shouldn't care to reaffirm these remarks every single time it's brought up.

To be fair however, I didn't see anything snide about it. It was just a bit zealous, thats all. Annoying, but not overly zealous.
 
You will not find posts on the TMF putting down this or other forums. If they are posted, a mod removes them. Here, the mods post them.

wow...the mods there delete any post regarding another forum that isn't possitive? That's free expression for you. I don't know where you got the idea that I'm "bashing" the TMF. I don't like it there for much the same reason as Missy Val but I'd hardy call that "bashing". I'd call that an "opinion". Apparently there I wouldnt have the freedom to express that opinion though...I didn't even know that.

I'd like to point out that I dislike the attitude of some individuals. Both here, on Tickle Theater, and there, the Tickling Forum.

I don't know how good is my status here; well, I get to moderate a tiny slice of the forum, so I suppose I am a good standing member too.

So I suppose I should try and be objective.

That I will do.


I haven't tried going over the TMF lately. I seldom try, anyway.

Why? Cause I feel a bit out of place, there.

It should be noted that I stopped posting my tk stuff here too.

Since nobody took notice - actually, somebody *did* complain, but... that's not my point - I'll repeat it.

I can produce tickling art.

I don't want to come after you, but you know what he meant, you're just being sarcastic. Negative threads are removed there. Free speech is of course allowed.

An opinion is no longer an opinion when it becomes perversed by name-calling, etc., and when this does happen threads are locked or removed. We do the same thing here, and more often.

This poster's question was answered, shouldn't we leave it at that? I would think its only proper now to close the thread rather than allow this to continue or for a conversation to start which has nothing to do with the topic.
 
Sorry...I dont think we should close threads for going off-topic. I'm not going to keep people from discussing something. The closest thing to that I would consider doing is splitting it into a new thread. Threads are closed either at the request of the OP or for gross violations of the rules that won't be solved with simple post culling.

I'd like to point out that over TMF they erased the problem by the root. They do not allow users to post stuff.

This is the most effective way to block the spreading of objectionable material.

While I've seen people post copyrighted clips or pics here - but I can't be sure, since I don't routinely steal from tk producers... 🙂 - I would recommend caution before mentioning "minor contents".

Especially if you are so quick on "reporting it elsewhere, where someone will listen and take action".

I can understand that harsh word can slip, while in the midst of a heated argument, but we should draw a line before slander becomes the norm.



I'd also like to point out that running the TMF is actually easier than keeping the TTC together.

As I said, they don't have to cope with copyrighted material being uploaded under the mods' noses.

So, they only have to erase the links, not download full clips and decide if the claim is rightful or not.


Also, the TMF is run and attended by producers; they can claim rights over the forum.

They can block or moderate it much more easily than we can do it here; we don't own the forum. I surely do not.

We can try and discuss with people, but we lack the basic principle that makes claims strong. Ownership.

Mods rule the TTC, but users keep it alive.

The admin, Tony - as Dade rather familiarly referred him to - is the only person who - as far as I know - puts the money to fund the forum with.


So, we have TMF, run by producers, who fund it, but also get a revenue from customers, and TTC, funded by TT Admin, and run by volunteers, who put a share of their free time to make the forum grow and prosper.

We could call us amateurs. But I don't like being called a criminal.


So, please, gentlemen, mind a bit your words before posting.

We value free speech.

TMF eliminates so many problems by simply not allowing objectable material at all. Sure, it seems restrictive, but who would actually complain about that portion which is being kept off? The majority of people I see also don't want underage material and other objectable material. Any effort should be applauded not sneered at. You're right, Kalamos.

Response times may vary, depending on who is available, but clearly its a good deterent to not tolerate it at all, its less to deal with. This isn't being lazy or indifferent, its being practical and its safeguarding even more from even having to tolerate the sight of such material for however long it may last before it is found and deleted.

If good will and intentions in this case are being measured by zero-tolerance of said material, then clearly the TMF is ahead of itself.


EDIT: And for the record, I knew TT's name was Tony more than a year ago. I just refrained from addressing him in public by his real name out of respect. Although he's not much older than me. 😛

EDIT: 6 months older to be exact. He was born in March, and I in August.

ahh..forum running again. Yeah I knew TT's name as well but I find it highly innapropriate to address him with such familiarity, especially in public. As the admin he deserves a certain degree of respect.
Ah well..got stuff to do so I guess I'm off again lol.

I'm several years older than the co-owner of SheezyArt, Spencer. It almost feels weird knowing that someone younger is in charge. But good for him.
 
Oh come, gang. What does it matter if it's the Tickle Theater forum, or the Tickling Media forum, or the Nuerotic Tickling Addicts forum? We're all part of "the Tickling Community", so we're in all this boat together. Where you express your opinions or feed your desires is hardly important. God bless em ALL for being around. Variety and numerable options are wonderful things.

As for the TMF, it's turned out to be a much longer process than anyone had originally anticipated. We expected it to be done in the wee hours of the morning last weekend, and it got pushed all the way till today before the move finally began taking place. It could take at least a day or two, possibly even more, for the forum to be functional again. It's not only a matter of moving the entire forum and all it's components, but a full upgrade as well that's being performed. When the place is finally back up, it will likely be a raw forum, with no banners or graphics or color schemes of any kind for a while until we set the styles for the new forum and resituate all current styles. The chat room will be a project as well, and may not be ready as soon as the forum itself is.

But it will all be worth-while once it's all said and done. Just be patient. In the meantime, go outside and get some fresh air. You've all been in front of the computer for too long. :tounge:

I'm glad to see others are echoing my sentiments too. And that it is coming from a moderator from the TMF is also good.
