To make matters even more confusing in the USA, computer manufacturers refer to a GB as 1,000,000,000 bytes, but to programmers a GB means 1,073,741,824 bytes, so your "30 GB" hard disk really holds only 27.9 GB <.<

Thanks to MissyVal for solving the translation issue. Actually, I came across an interesting tidbit...in 1974, by decree of the Prime Minister, the British switched to the American usage of the word billion (one billion = 1 * 10^9) largely because Americans insisted that $1,000,000,000 was equal to one billion dollars.
