I'd like to rewrite one of my games in Javascript to give Mac and portable device users a chance at playing. If you are interested in helping please let me know.

Maybe a bit more info in this thread? What kind of work is it, what kind of knowledge/skill needed, how big is the project etc etc

Hi,
Thanks so much for the reply. I would prefer to do most of the work myself and would like a framework that I can build on. For example, I'd like to have a screen that shows a random text string (from a database / file of strings) and have the user press one of two / four buttons depending on what they want to do.

I haven't even done the "hello world" in Java but I feel I learn better by reverse engineering something simple that I can then build upon.

Hope you understand what I mean. You can PM me or email [email protected] for more information if you like.

So in summary, you just need someone who explains Javascript to you? Or you want someone to write you a program which helps you to write Javascript without knowing how to program?

I guess I'd like someone to write the bare bones of the program so I can get to grips with the basics and start tweaking and modifying things (get my Java "confidence"). Does that make sense? I think for someone who knows Java it won't be such a tall order.

Just wanted to add that I have found a tool that converts my Delphi source to Java. I am playing with this now to see if I can make sense of the output. I'll get there in the end...

All help gratefully received!

I'm "learning" Java using Eclipse and some tutorials I have found. My game data is the clever part, and I can parse all that into usable files using Delphi. But I have made some progress with the Eclipse IDE and have finished a Hello World App and have managed to create a Java application with multiple buttons, etc that DO THINGS! So I am 5% there!

Its fun to learn something new.

Java is not Javascript.

If you're targeting Android, okay, sure, use Java.

If you want to target multiple platforms at the same time, and if your game is as simple as it looks, maybe it should have been built as a web app, unless you really want users to have offline access.

Just wanted to give an update. I have been distracted by many other things, including my day job and the rising cost of advertising etc. Have decided to defer the Java for now but in the end I may go for a webb app as it does seem to cover more devices.
