conehead? i'd just like to point out that one's life expectancy - the average number of years remaining for a living being - doesn't decrease by reading your sig. if that were true, every time someone read your sig would cause that person to die at a younger and younger age. rather, i think your intention is to point out to the reader that the time she's just spent reading your sig - time out of the limited amount available during her lifetime - is past and unchangable. to point out the ceaseless passage of time as it moves. thus, you might want to rephrase your sig.
