Right, I'm doing what I should have done 10 years ago (finally) and am beginning to redecorate my study/hobby room.

Now, it's my own little personal area (my wife has the garden 😛) and I want to decorate it a certain theme. This theme is Japanese Culture.

Very few of you know that I am a huge fan of the Japanese culture, stereotypical view of it anyway (silk robes, food and dinner etiquette, anime stuff etc.)

Anyway, I've been dabbling about with some designs and there's something that's been lurking in my mind about a certain type of decoration I want. Weaponary. Stuff like Japanese swords and such.

I've had my eye on these for a while yet my only concern is the actual purchasing of said products. I'm planning to buy online because the selection is much wider than a shop. But is the purchasing simple or are their added complications like form filling and extra security measures?

I'm probably blowing this out of proportion completely, but I seeing this like I see purchasing a gun, intead of buying a knife, which it is. XD

But anyway, anyone who has bought them, could you just inform me on the purchasing procedures? Are they simple or slightly more complicated?

And while we're on the matter, would you recommend buying these online or would you recommend me going to a store and buying one from there, which is an option. 😛

God, I sound so paranoid reading this. XD

The places I've bought mine have been an antiques store, a weapons fair, a bargain store, from a friend and a martial arts supplies place. I live in Australia, where everything is counted as a weapon (including, as it turns out, my wallet because OMFG IT HAS A CHAIN ON IT), so ordering online for me is out of the question unless I want to buy Customs a gift (like hell I would, unless it was an acid bomb). However, www.weaponmasters.com has a fairly nice selection of shiny things. I like to browse them when I'm bored 😛
Otherwise, you could probably look on eBay, I'm sure you'd find something. I don't think it should be as big a problem as buying a gun, but then I have no idea what it's like in England so...
Anyway, one way or another, I approve of your plan 😛

Ah, so you have experienced issues with buying weaponary. 😛

I was hoping I was blowing it out of proportion...ah well. XD

I'll go looking at some shops which sell them, and ask them. 😛

But cheers for the advise dude. XD

Not sure about ordering them online, but I don't think it'd be a problem. I remember the day after my 18'th birthday I walked by a weapons shop and I said "I haven't bought any porn, cigarettes, or legally separated myself from my parents...hell I haven't done anything 18 worthy yet" so I went and bought a cheap (relatively) Japanese sword, and then walked a few miles home with it and.....hell nobody stopped me. So, it doesn't seem like a huge deal if you ask me.

Of course, the police force could have just been terrified to approach me on account of my obvious deadly ninja skills, I guess 🙂.

I'd recommend you to buy a Katana (a fake, not a real one, because they are very expensive). You could to buy some shurikens (i have some of them since 20 years ago), also tonfas or nunchakus and a Bo (a large wooden staff). Also if you can to buy them in an ordinary store, instead of online stores, i believe that is a better choice for you. You can to buy some labels, japanese pictures, creamic vases and some fans. You can try ebay too. Good luck.

Awesome, Cheers for your help guys. 😀

I found a store recently that specialises in memorobelia, and heard it does quite a few swords there. Gonna look next week. =]

You could to buy some ninja or samurai masks too, that would be a nice detail.
