For the 2010/2011 season they showed a stat on a recent Mavericks game about the top shooters in the fourth quarter of games. They took the top 25 top scorers in the league and showed their 4th quarter shooting percentages for the year . Kobe Bryant was 21st out of 25 and his 4th quarter shooting % was a pathetic .399 . Yep ,folks thats under 40% for the season .

Don't forget his 5 rings though...

Honestly, who else do you want to have the ball late in the 4th quarter? Go ahead Flock, ASK THE NBA players themselves and they will say "Kobe Bryant..."

I have the ultimate respect for Kobe... Especially after he bailed out the Olympic Team in the Gold Medal Game against Spain. Everyone on the USA team was playing with their balls in their throat the last half, EXCEPT KOBE... Primetime I agree with you 100%... he's great on the defensive end also!

game winning shots??? good question Prime

heres a sample from 2003 to 2009

basically here are six seasons including playoffs

League wide the last shot average for game poosible game winners is .298

Believe it or not the statistical evidence has Lebron with 17 game winning shots in that span

2. Vince Carter at 16
3. Ray Allen has 15
4. Kobe at 14
5. Carmelo Anthony and AI at 13
6. Ben Gordon , Joe Johnson and Dirk Nowitzki at 12
7. Jamal Crawford , Paul Pierce and Dwayne Wade at 11

Those are your top twelve from 03 to 09

couple of more interesting facts.

Of the top 12 guys listed above Kobe HAS THE WORST SHOOTING % of the bunch on possible game winners at .250 :rowfull:

Kobe does hold the DUBIOUS record of most MISSED shots during this period at 42 . :rowfull::rowfull::rowfull:

You think a 56 FGA to 1 assist ratio might be part of the problem :dancingsheep:

:moon::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull:

those are the hard cold facts Prime

*sigh*

I guess you missed my post Flock. Why don't you ask the actual NBA players who they would love to have the ball late in the 4th quarter? Who is the one guy they fear the most with the ball and to make the game winning shot? Go ahead. Ask the same all-stars who played on the 2008 Olympic team who they fear the most in crunch time...Who is the guy who is considered the most cold-blooded player in the clutch?

Gee Flock, I wonder who that could be.....

According to those cold hard facts I just presented its sure the Hell not Kobe

The numbers in more detail clearly have shown over the course of his career that Ray Allen is the true cold-blooded assassin for game winning shots .

Bottom line you got zero legit response to this fact and you Know it ....u just won't admit it

Seriously Flock, you have a real issue with a guy that has 5 rings. Which is 5 more than any Dallas Maverick team. Right?

The answer to the question is Kobe Bryant. Amazing how his own peers state he is the most clutch player in the league. Here you are spouting these "facts", yet, the PLAYERS in the league recognize Kobe as Mr. Clutch. Tell me, what are you trying to show? Kobe isn't the most accurate guy in the 4th quarter? AND THAT MEANS WHAT? It doesn't change the fact that the NBA PLAYERS THEMSELVES recognize Kobe as the most dangerous player in the 4th quarter. No other player in the league draws as many double teams in the clutch as Kobe Bryant.

Hate Kobe all you want. Still has 5 rings. Still has 2 Finals MVPs. Still is considered the most clutch player in crunch time, recognized by his own peers. Who are you? exactly. Some guy who doesn't know anything about basketball. Tell me Flock, why do the other players in the league consider Kobe the best player in the 4th quarter?

your typical response my friend...lol

I give you cold hard numbers and you try to change the subject .

Who says he is still the most clutch player in crunchtime. The numbers prove otherwise . You almost act like you are an NBA player yourself . But everything you spew is conjecture or hearsay . :objection:

How come Kobe isn't even mentioned in the NBA MVP talk this year ???

As great as Kobe has been over his career { I have no issue giving him credit on that subject} he is about to take the eventual slow downard spiral all players take . If it hasn't already started .

The future of this league is Rose, Wall , Howard, Griffin , Durant , and C3P.

I will say this. It will be very interesting to see if Kobe can restructure his game once his pure talent has declined.

Flock, really. You know the actual NBA players say Kobe Bryant is the most feared player in the clutch. Now, why would they say that when your "facts" state otherwise? Seriously, what are you trying to prove? You come out with these "facts", but guess what? People still think Kobe is the most feared player in the NBA. How did that start anyway?

Hey, since you're at it, can you tell me how many times fans remember a game winning shot from someone other than Kobe? Kobe got his reputation from somewhere right? Must means he hit a whole lot of game winning shots in clutch situations. You roll out these "facts" yet, people still consider him the greatest clutch player in the NBA today. Do me a favor. Answer why that is....

Um, this is why your knowledge of the game is ridiculous. THE PLAYERS THEMSELVES SAID IT IN THE MEDIA!!! My goodness man, did you even watch the 2008 Olympic team? You know, the team with all the great stars of today? They were asked who they thought was the most feared player in the NBA. Why did guys like LEBRON JAMES, DWAYNE WADE, CARMELO ANTHONY and the others say it was Kobe Bryant? Conjecture? Hearsay? Look man, it was in the freakin media! You really don't know anything do you?

Figures... You're a Mavericks fan. When was the last time they won a championship? Oh, my bad. They haven't.. Sucks to be you... My team is going for their 17th title, 3rd in a row.

Kobe hasn't been mentioned in the MVP race because the "perception" is, he has great players around him, that's why his team is good. But, like I have told you many times. Winning that title in June is a lot more meaningful than any regular season awards. Think Lebron is thrilled to have 2 MVP titles, but no rings? He left the team that got him those awards. Ah, that's right, you're a Mavericks fans. Regular season means something to you because your team fails in the playoffs every single year. Year in, year out. Year in, year out. Year in, year out. Year in, year out.

The MVP this year is Derrick Rose. No doubt.

you are the funniest guy ever..

I'm proud to be Mavs fan; you have to resort to 3rd grade antics because you've got nothing else . To be honest I'm flattered .

You have basically haphazardly called out every sports fan here who follows a team that hasn't won a title. :rowfull::rowfull:

I make a legit comment about Kobe. Since you got nothing you attack a team .

How come if Kobe is a closer and LeBron is a bum then James has more game winning shots than '' the steak ''

This is why your point never matters in these debates. Ask yourself. "Has Primetime disputed the stats I put up? hmmmm. No, he hasn't, which means he doesn't deny the validity of the stats. But, he keeps asking me why does Kobe's peers still consider him the most dangerous player in the 4th quarter? Maybe I should address that, but I won't because I have no clue on what I'm talking about."

So Flock, if your stats are so revealing, why does Kobe's peers consider him the most dangerous player in the 4th quarter?

I have the ultimate respect for Kobe... Especially after he bailed out the Olympic Team in the Gold Medal Game against Spain. Everyone on the USA team was playing with their balls in their throat the last half, EXCEPT KOBE... Primetime I agree with you 100%... he's great on the defensive end also!

Thanks Dave! At least you realize how great Kobe is. Guys like Flock hate on Kobe because he is considered the most dangerous player in the NBA. That's why he constantly looks for things to show Kobe is not great. He like the Mavericks for crying out loud. A team that chokes every year and wishes they had Kobe on their team...

Prime , you keep saying he is considered the most dangerous player in the NBA . I keep waiting for your proof. The stats clearly state over his ''peak '' years that he isn't .

You keep you words like considered but guess what Prime. Kansas , Pitt, Duke and Ohio St. were '' considered '' the FOUR best and therefore no.1 seeds in March Madness yet NOT ONE SINGLE ONE even made it to the Final four :sherlock:

As good as Kobe is the hype machine still continues to roll .

Jordan was the most dangerous player in the history of the NBA . Yet I don't hate him, so that pretty much throws another one of your half-assed hypothesises out the window .

Again , I am proud to be a true Mavs fan , Cowboys fan, Stars fan and Rangers fan .

You are a 49ers fan and lets be honest, they haven't been revelant since Young retired . But you know what, good for you for bein' a true fan . Yet you try to bust my ballz for doing the same thing . :super:

Flock, it is time for you to use your common sense. True or False? Kobe Bryant is considered the best closer in the game. True right?

Then you whip out these statistics to show why Kobe is "technically" not the best closer. But WHY are you showing the stats? BECAUSE Kobe Bryant is considered the best closer in the NBA. What more proof do you need about that perception? For crying out loud man, would you even make this thread if Kobe did not have the reputation? Notice I never disputed the stats. My question is, "Why DOES Kobe have the reputation of the best closer?"

Flock, you can support the Mavs all you want. I have no problem with you being a Mavs fan. But rest assured, you take shots at Kobe and the Lakers, I am going to take shots on the Mavs. Learn it.

Oh yeah, to show you why YOU think he is a dangerous player, let's use an example. It is game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. The Mavs lead the Lakers by 1 point, with 5 seconds left in the game. The Lakers are going to have the last possession. Let's say the Mavs do not double team Kobe but Derek Fisher. Kobe makes the game winning shot off of a pass from Fisher. As a Mavs fan, wouldn't you lose your mind about the lack of defense against Kobe? Isn't a lot easier to swallow if Fisher made the shot and not Kobe? As a Mavs fan, wouldn't you want any other Laker to take the shot and NOT Kobe Bryant?

Dude, all you have to do is listen and read player interviews. Kobe Bryant is considered the most dangerous player by his own peers. This is not new information. This is well known. Why ELSE does Kobe have the reputation?

You want to talk about overhype? People think Lebron is the best player in the game. Why, I have no idea. No rings. Plus, he bolted to another superstar's team in order to try to get a ring. You can never say that about Kobe...

Other than the mysterious and odd flogging of a trade where they acquired Pau Gasol for nothing I don't recall having issue with the Lakers .

There is no ''technically '' about it because the stats bear out the truth .

You keep telling us how perfect and invinceable Kobe is. Thats where I take issue . Kobe is the same guy who laid an egg in game 7 last year remember ?

Truthfully Gasol scares me more in your scenario than Kobe. Why ?? Cause chances are Kobe takes a off balance jumpshot where Gasol takes his shot from 15 feet or less.

Biggest reason why Kobe has the hype you speak of is he is the top player on the biggest team in basketball with maybe exception of Boston

Again , I'm not arguing fact that Kobe isn't one of the best players in the league . My point is Kobe being the '' closer '' is more about the hype than the facts. The stats prove otherwise. Kobe is ALWAYS going to find a way to put up last shot rather than find an open player who has a better shot .

No, you havent disputed the facts on the stats. The reason is even you know there is no argument on that . The facts are from 03-09 he is a .250 shooter on potential gamewinning shots . Thats not a closer in my book .

Flock, Flock, Flock. You mean to tell me you are going to boast that Kobe is not really a "closer"? You are going to point out to statistics as your proof. Ok, since you are so good at these stats, can you please dig up Kobe Bryant's CAREER stats? You are taking a sample of 6 years. In fact, you left out 2009/2010. You went from 2003-2009. Let's see, Kobe Bryant was age 25 - 31, but was a 7 to 13 year veteran of the NBA in that same span. Gee, you are catching the guy after many grueling, championship seeking years.

You point out that Kobe is no longer a "closer" because of his "decline". This is where I have the problem. Kobe Bryant is considered THE most dangerous player in the 4th quarter based on his CAREER, not a sample of his latter years. You haven't acknowledged the fact that this whole argument you are putting up is based on his reputation as a closer. You ask me where is my proof? Well, why are you even discussing it? Because he is considered the most dangerous closer in the NBA by the majority of fans, owners and players, but YOU and some dimwit who decided to look at stats starting in 2003.

Now silly guy, where did Kobe EVER get that reputation? Must have meant that throughout his entire CAREER he has made clutch shots in the 4th quarter. Remember the WCF last year against Phoenix. Kobe Bryant made huge shot after huge shot in the playoffs. Name another player that has demonstrated Kobe's clutch ability in the tightest of situations?

This is where you are delusional (which doesn't surprise me....). Where have I EVER said Kobe is invincible and perfect? You show me the post/thread and I will apologize immediately. Can you do it? You dig up some stats of a snapshot of the man's career as your proof? Do some real research. In the last 15 years, how does Kobe rank with the other guys in the same time period?

You can't STAND the fact that Kobe Bryant truly is the most feared player in the NBA. He didn't get that reputation from nowhere. Tell me Flock, did you even watch the player interviews during the 2008 Olympic team?

all knowing Prime please give me the winning lottery numbers for the next Mega Millions jackpot !!

Gee Flock, can't seem to answer the questions huh?

The simple fact that you even started this thread to DISCREDIT Kobe Bryant's status as a "closer" is proof that he IS recognized as the game's best closer in the NBA today. I asked you if you saw the interviews from the 2008 Olympic team. I asked you to gather the stats of Kobe's CAREER (since you like pointing out facts so much...) and see how he got his reputation.

Dude, you're such a Kobe hater it is sad. There is even another poster who chimed in on this thread who also disagrees with your blatant attempt to disparage Kobe Bryant. Let's face "facts". Kobe IS considered the most dangerous player in the NBA today. Why ELSE would you even start a thread to disprove that?

Yep, you just hate Kobe that's all.... Oh well. That happens when he has 5 rings and your team has............................... ZERO.

Prime , I so wanna apologize because you are so right about everything . But I had no idea you were a visionary of such epic proportions. Had I known you could read minds, were a soothsayer, and clairvoyant I would have waved the white flag much earlier .

I know when I'm beat and can't compete with someone of your skillset . I'm really truly honored you would even lower yourself to have a debate with a dullard like myself. But the truth is you were trying to help me see the error of my ways.

your newest and biggest fan

P.S.

to anyone who who might try to disagree with my new mentor. You truly are a sad sack of crap

It is about time you realize I am your superior!!!! Now bow down and kiss my rings....

Seriously though, if you are going to bring up statistics about Kobe, I know you are trying to get me to start posting against you. I get it. We all need entertainment sometimes. There is no other reason for you to make a post against Kobe Bryant without the intent of me chiming in. This is what sports boards are all about. We talk trash. Otherwise, sports debates can get awfully boring...

Your statistics still make a very weak case...

Lets tilt what you said for a moment... just think about it . I think the TRUE reason you are so Pro-Kobe is to get people to post things .The more outrageous you are about it the better the chance to get responses. You said it, otherwise sports debates can get awfully boring .

I still like how you weakly try to shootdown absolute facts which are verified by the statistics .

Just look at your three sports heroes . They are each in his own right very contraversial . no choir boys for Mr. Prime

Your are like a moth drawn to a flame .......:microsmiley:

Now that bein' said... the thread is all yours. Let your Kobe-luv-fest roll on

This is where you are delirious. I am a Kobe fan BECAUSE HE PLAYS FOR THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS. If Kobe Bryant played for any other team, I wouldn't care what people say about him. He wears purple and gold. He has my full support. At one time, I was a huge Shaq defender. Notice that once he left the Lakers, I stop being a fan of his....

Tell me Flock, can you please point out the thread(s) I have started that claimed Kobe is perfect and invincible? You act like I start countless threads glorifying the greatness of Kobe. The ONLY threads I have ever started about Kobe was in defense of what was said about him. People compare him to Jordan. You have NEVER EVER heard/read me say Kobe is better than Jordan. In fact, I could care less about Jordan's legacy. He didn't wear purple and gold.

Now, let's look at your recent weak attempt of bashing Kobe. You are pulling out statistics of a period of time. Not Kobe's career. You use these statistics as proof Kobe is not a closer. Yet, I counter with, how did he get that reputation? It wasn't media hype. HE GOT IT BECAUSE HE GOT THE JOB DONE. I asked you if you watched the other NBA players give interviews on how they view Kobe Bryant. You still haven't answered that. Yet, all you do is point out stats from a SELECT time frame. How about this? Why don't you dig up the stats of Kobe's career and THEN tell me he is not considered the most dangerous closer in the game today. But you can't do it can you?

The whole reason why you started this thread was to discredit Kobe. When was the last time I boasted of Kobe Bryant? When was the last time you have seen me START a thread dedicated to glorifying Kobe? I'm still waiting for you Flock...

Stats from 2003-2009 PROVE NOTHING about a man's CAREER. Man, you really suck at these arguments don't you? Oh well, you keep on trying. Got to give you credit for that. Oh yeah, how come some other poster in this thread agreed with me, yet you never seem to reference that?.... hmmmmm.

Hey Flock, don't you wish the Lakers played "bored and tired" now? hahahahahahahahahahaha :neenerneener:

But it is just a regular season game... No biggie...

Oh, did you hear REGGIE MILLER talk about Kobe the "closer" tonight? During the 3rd quarter, Reggie said "Kobe Bryant is the best closer in the game today. There are stats out there saying he isn't the best closer statistically, but late in the game, I want Kobe Bryant to have the ball in his hands to win the game!" Did Reggie read this thread? :laughhard:

There goes my proof about what Kobe's peers think....
