Kobe the '' closer '' found this interesting stat

Who the hell are you and should I care?

Um, go back and read the whole freakin thread. If you did, my argument was written BEFORE Reggie Miller's soundbite. Pay attention before you call someone out. Got anything to add to the discussion?

I read it from the start and all you kept saying over and over about all these players saying Bryant is the closer. And then you use one example with Reggie Miller. :jester:

Maybe Flock of Seagulls did bait you into this thread and then maybe you just assume you are the only true expert on Bryant . Either way you have stumbled and bumbled and still hasn't produced one legit shread of evidence to shootdown the the topic of the thread.

Ok Johnny come lately, here is where you have a reading comprehension problem.

Flock says "Kobe is not the best closer in the game because these statistics from 2003 - 2009 show that he is not statistically the best closer."

I have never refuted the stats. Did you get that part? I have NEVER refuted the stats. So, what has been my counterpoint. Pay real close attention because this is where you get lost. My counterpoint is that Kobe Bryant's PEERS have called him the greatest closer in the game today. I have pointed out interviews from the 2008 Olympic team as an obvious example.

Reggie Miller's soundbite last night was perfect. Obviously people like you and Flock must have heard that about Kobe's reputation because this whole thread was created to debunk that reputation. My proof of this reputation is simply "WHY WAS THIS THREAD CREATED IF KOBE DIDN'T HAVE THE REPUTATION???????" Now, WHERE did he get this reputation? Out of thin air?

The other problem I have with Flock's arguments is he is looking at statistics from 2003-2009. Guess what? Kobe was drafted in 1996. So 2003 is his 7th year. I asked Flock to show me the stats of Kobe's CAREER. You can't base your entire claim on a portion of Kobe's career. Kobe had to get his reputation from doing something right?

So Grizzly, why don't you do that? Why don't you gather Kobe's stats of his career to try and help poor Flock's arguments. Here is how I equate Flock's silly argument to something. Michael Jordan is considered the greatest basketball player in NBA history and he obviously has the reputation of being the most dangerous player in the 4th quarter. Now, if I were to pull out his statistics from his days as a Washington Wizard as my "proof" that Jordan is not the most dangerous player, I would be laughed at the whole way to the bank. Why? Because I would be looking at a LATER portion of his career and not the WHOLE career.

So Grizzly, before you even try to come at me, have something to bring to the table. At least Flock is trying to make an argument. You just run your mouth....

game winning shots??? good question Prime

heres a sample from 2003 to 2009

basically here are six seasons including playoffs

League wide the last shot average for game poosible game winners is .298

Believe it or not the statistical evidence has Lebron with 17 game winning shots in that span

2. Vince Carter at 16
3. Ray Allen has 15
4. Kobe at 14
5. Carmelo Anthony and AI at 13
6. Ben Gordon , Joe Johnson and Dirk Nowitzki at 12
7. Jamal Crawford , Paul Pierce and Dwayne Wade at 11

Those are your top twelve from 03 to 09

couple of more interesting facts.

Of the top 12 guys listed above Kobe HAS THE WORST SHOOTING % of the bunch on possible game winners at .250 :rowfull:

Kobe does hold the DUBIOUS record of most MISSED shots during this period at 42 . :rowfull::rowfull::rowfull:

You think a 56 FGA to 1 assist ratio might be part of the problem :dancingsheep:

:moon::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull::rowfull:

those are the hard cold facts Prime

Kobe Bryant has made more “clutch” game-winning shots than Michael Jordan, the very best NBA player of all time, over the course of his career.

Michael Jordan made 26 game winning shots over the course of his career. Kobe Bryant has made 27, and Bryant still has a number of years to go.

5-time NBA champion: 2-time NBA Finals MVP: 2-time scoring champion: 10 year all defensive team selection, 13 time NBA all star 4 time NBA All Star MVP, second highest number of points in NBA history.

And Kobe is behind only Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West on a number of NBA record stats, and has surpassed Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West on some of them.

Kobe theoretically still has a chance to surpass Michael Jordan in rings and in some nba records. Bryant is 31, and needs 2 more rings to surpass Jordan, who retired for good at age 40.

Knowing what we know now, of the guys on your “clutch” list, there isnt a guy I would dream of choosing over Bryant, were they all in the same NBA draft class.

That choice aint even close.

I would love to see a Lakers/Bulls final, just to see Kobe and Rose go at it for 7 games

A guy from California being a homer :cynical: Jordan never took nights off like Mr. Bryant . Lets try using Primetimes logic on this question . I would bet if you asked former and current players , General managers and others in the NBA they would be in unanimous agreement about Jordan being the best closer of all time .

Grizzly, do you bring anything to this argument? You have such a huge yap, but nothing intelligient is coming out. Are you seriously going to use a snippet of Kobe's career as proof that he is not the best closer in the game? Then you are just as silly as Flock.

As for your statement about asking current players, GMs and others if they would be unanimous about Jordan being the best closer, the answer is YES!!! DUH, you silly guy. But, check this out. Jaba put Jordan's CAREER stats of game winning shots and Kobe HAS MORE. Based on these stats, couldn't we say Kobe is a better closer than Jordan? I mean, the proof is in the stats right? That's what Flock is trying to tell me.....

Thanks for actually agreeing with my argument. This is why I don't consider you a knowledgeable fan. You just supported my "defense" in this thread without realizing it. I suggest you quit while you're behind right now....
