Well, as I'm the resident TMF weatherman, I figured I'd post about the upcoming storm.

As most who have heard the forecast are aware, a major storm is headed for the East Coast Friday and Saturday. Here in NYC, they are saying a mix of rain and snow, changing to snow Friday night. In Jeff's area in Boston, I saw that supposedly two feet of snow might fall.

I'll be going food shopping tomorrow. Looks like we may be in for a rough time.

This sucks. was hoping to get through the winter with no major storms. that damn groudhog lies!

The groundhog was in congress lying last week...

He said bet on San Fran too

Now a big east Coast storm

I just came in from meetings. There is a Winter Storm Watch for NYC for up to 10 inches. They said certain places have blizzard watches for 2 feet.

Ugh. Here it comes.

I feel for you all, I really do. This is one of many reasons I reside in Texas, and will never live anywhere else.

Again?

Well, batten down the hatches, folks. Looks like Sandy's coming around for round 2.

There are two models posted for the storm. The euro model posted by the Weather Channel says NYC is going to get 14 inches of snow, while another model says almost nothing. The Winter Storm Watch posted for NYC by the Weather Channel is now saying anywhere from 4 to 10 inches. They said we wont know until Fri morning, when the storm is in its final state.

Whatever happens, it wont be the biggest snow of my lifetime. That I believe was the Bilzzard of 96, when I got 21 1-2 inches when I was living in FT Lee NJ.

For NYC, I'm not seeing any of this on either The Weather Channel or the National Weather Service. I'm seeing snow turning to rain both Friday and Saturday, and accumulation of not even one inch. Northern New England may be getting a serious storm, but we're not.

Work, Forest Hills NY, where I am, has a Winter Storm Watch posted over our local forecast. If one clicks that on, it says anywhere from 4 to 10 inches. The Euro model I mentioned was some map I saw somewhere on the site.

Something is coming, its just a question of what.

Just awakened to find out they have now increased the expected accumulations for NYC up to 8 to 12 inches, with potential 60 mph winds. This seems to be getting worse as time goes on.

It looks like a very formidable storm.

Actually, yeah, WNYC is saying it gets heavy Saturday, though the figure they said was 4-8 inches. And that tends to affect people who have to depend on elevated trains in the MTA system, which will be including me this weekend. So yes, it appears now we will be getting something fairly big.

The area where I'm from in Maine is saying 1-2 ft. of snow. Reallllllly glad I'm in Tennessee right now! I hate snow!

The situation here has worsened greatly. I just awakened from a nap to find they have issued a Blizzard Warning for NYC for 10 to 14 inches of snow, and high winds. This is far worse than originally predicted.

Ugh! Here we go. Lets' see if they will be right.

^Enjoy the two feet of snow that you may receive up there in Massachusetts.^

I just pray the power doesnt go out. not so much for me, but for my elderly parents that live with me. i hate snow and power outages almost as much as liberalism!

PARTS OF NEW ENGLAND TO RECEIVE UP TO TWO FEET.

The storm is way south of us now, with another batch of snow hovering over The Great Lakes. We might have warm air squeezed between the two storms which would keep the snowfall around here below six inches.

The forecast doesnt seem to have changed. There is still a Blizzard Warning for NYC with 10 to 14 inches expected.

I'm reminded not to trust forecasts. When I lived in Fort Lee, NJ during the Blizzard of 1996, which is the worst snowstorm I remember in my lifetime, the original forecast for that storm was for a maximum of six inches. It started snowing early on a Sunday morning, and kept snowing, for almost 36 hours straight, until early Monday evening. By the time the snow ended, almost 22 inches had fallen. My mom and I were unable to leave the apartment for three days I believe.

I'm planning on staying in tomorrow and Saturday. I'm hopeful of being able to get out on Sunday. As the snow is supposed to end sometime Sat morning, getting out Sunday would seem realistic, even if we do get the expected one foot of snow or more.

I use to love snow when I was younger but now it's just annoying. It looks like we'll be snowed in for awhile. I'm also hoping the power doesn't go out but with my luck it will lol.

My area its predicted that we'll get about 2 feet of snow and the wind gusts could reach as high as 60 mph

maniac, I hope your power stays, on my friend. I know your concern, actually. During the 13 years I lived in Lancaster, we used to have multiple power failures every year. Once, on Xmas Day 2002, our power went out for nine hrs, due to heavy wet snow, weighing down, and breaking, the power lines. .

This is my first big snowstorm since moving back to NY. Hopefully, my power will stay on as well.

Choke that Groundhog

It hasn't started to snow here YET.

People living in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York had better be prepared for severe winter weather.

its doing something here, but I'm too high up to see if its snow, rain or a mix.

The Weather Channel website says any mix or rain will change to snow by 4pm, and then accumulate quickly. They havent changed the forecast on their site of 10 to 14 inches. Its going to have to start to pile up, and snow for a long time, to get to that amount.

A new statement on the WC website as of 630pm, claims that the latest expected snowfall totals are between 8 and 16 inches for the NYC area. Depending on where one is located, this represents either a slight drop, or increase, from the original forecast of 10 to 14 inches. Averaging, those amounts would average out to about a foot of snow.

Based on what I can see, we dont have anywhere near those amounts yet here, but I know it is supposed to snow all night. Something tells me that we will not see the extreme amounts predicted.
