Major Storm Headed For East Coast.

WABC and WPVI stated that the supposed "Official" snow total for Central Park in Manhattan was measured at 4,3 inches as of 11pm tonight. However, it is still snowing very heavily, and the Weather Channel website says that snow is accumulating rapidly.

The snow is supposed to end by 6am. If it snowed at an inch an hour between 11pm and 6am, that would be between 11 and 12 inches. I've heard parts of LI already have over a foot of snow.

It will be interesting to see what the final totals are. La Guardia Airport, about 10 mins from my apartment, would probably be the closest official measuring station to here, unless they have some other reporting station closer to Forest Hills.

Just checked weather.com. The "Observed" total at Central Park as of 745am was 11.4 inches, but they said parts of Long Island had 2 to 3 feet. With Queens being east of Manhattan, it wouldnt surprise me if we had over a foot of snow here.

Its very windy now. Today will be a day to stay inside.

I got 40 inches of snow with 4 and 5 ft drifts. CT got hit the hardest during the storm, it was pretty crazy!

My family got 2 feet of snow... Once again, very glad I'm in Tennessee to avoid the winter! =/

It is times like these I want to go to Florida and forget Jersey!

2 feet of snow in Southwest CT!! My dog was loving it!

3 feet here in central CT and still no plow in sight....

I just heard from someone in Connecticut that had to climb out a window to start shoveling.

Yesterday I was talking to a guy whos mother lives in Maine. She told him the snow was so deep they could not open the front door or see out the windows on that side of the house.

I splurged on paying someone to plow my very long and wide driveway!!

We were lucky. The storm only grazed our area. We got 7-10 inches or so depending on where you were (hills got more). And for good measure, we had single-digit temperatures down into the minus range.

I figured I'd put this in the same thread as we dont know anything yet.

Although the local forecast for NY doesnt reflect it yet, I just heard a weather forecaster at the Weather Channel, and saw a map, which says that up to 6 inches of snow may fall in NY on Thursday. Additionally, this forecaster said that another storm might bring more snow after that.

This is unreal. As bad as my area has it with a foot of snow or a bit more, I really feel sorry for the people who got hit with three feet of snow

Hopefully, their forecast will be wrong.

I finally went out today for the first time since Friday. I had almost nothing left in the house, and needed to food shop. Luckily there is a market across the St from me, as I dont have a car, and I also needed to get away from the hammering of the new elevators that they're putting in my building.

Its warm, and while there is snow around, the streets are clear. I didnt walk to Austin St or the subway yet, but probably will tomorrow.

I'm still wondering whether the snow one of the forecasters predicted for Thurs is coming.

I've heard two forecasts regarding the snow this evening.

There is still a map posted on the Weather Channel site, indicating a 3 to 6 inch snowfall on Wednesday night. Additionally, the forecast for NYC for Wednesday night, is "Snow".

Cecily Tynan on WPVI in Philly said on tonight's 6pm news that she is forecasting about a four inch snowfall for Philly that night.

It's still a couple of days away. It looks like something is coming, but hopefully it wont be as bad as the one this past week.

The latest forecast I saw for NY, carl, is about 2 inches of snow tomorrow night into Thursday.

You sound like you've been through the proverbial mill. I hope the snowfall predicted for tomorrow and Thursday is minimal.
