Well, I got totally shot down and I'm pretty sure I'm in the friend zone now

A little ways into the massage, I shifted the conversation to movies and brought up that Ouija movie. She had heard of it but hadn't seen it (perfect! or so I thought). So I kept it wicked casual by saying I planned on seeing it and asked if she'd like to join me. She said something like "Oh..... I don't usually do that sort of thing with clients" and then changed the subject immediately. The pause made me think she was just trying to find any excuse she could think of that would let me down easy.

In my head, I was like Dammit!! and it was a little awkward after that for about 5 minutes or so but she's cool and easy to talk to so it was all good after that and we got to talking about other things.

Oh well, hey at least I tried!

This happens way too many times to me as well. You see a signal you interpret as a possibility that something wonderful could happen. Yiou start dreaming and feeling great, then you pursue that feeling……and nothing.

We have a heightened awareness of what tickling does. And forget the sexual aspect for a moment. For myself I HAVE been tickled while getting a massage and I HATED it. (Probably the only time I ever will.) During it a couple of times and once after. (My Bf did it.) Getting a massage is the time to relax... not be forced to jump. Shes shooting herself in the foot if she makes that a consistent habit with ANY of her clients. Some may enjoy it... as you might have. But overall... I mean... think of the people who hate being tickled in general. What if YOU hated it... you would feel groped in a sense. Touched in a way that you never gave permission for.

We here encouraged you to seek out a date because of what she did yes. This is the part where we are clouded. But the reality of what she did IS inappropriate. If a man did that to a female client... he'd be risking getting sued for sexual harassment. Now you and I woulden't sue... but... peoples luck eventually runs out when they play around like that. Time and place for everything. This isn't one of them.

If she tickles you on purpose, then I would say it is definitely okay to ask her out. The worst she can say is no.

I used to go to a female massage therapist when I lived in PA.

I never asked her out, or asked her "The Question". (Are you ticklish, of course).

The closest I came was one time I asked her if her clients ever said the massage she gave them felt ticklish, and she said yes.

Right, that's why I made a point of pointing out that I encouraged it by reacting playfully when she'd do it accidentally. The combination of her accidentally tickling me and me reacting playfully to it is what eventually led to her sneaking in a few tickles on purpose here and there. She didn't just do it out of the blue. I seriously doubt she does that with any of her other clients and if she does, it's probably very few.

If I gave anyone the impression that she's in there tickling me all over the place, I'm sorry to have misled you all. I stated before it's 99.9% a normal session.

To be fair, tickling past childhood has almost always has connotations with flirting, so what she was doing gave me the initial impression she was digging you to some extent, even if I didn't necessarily think she was like some closeted tickle fetishist.

2 Takeaways from This Experience

1. She is into you. She doesn't do this with 80-year-olds. As you suspected, it was a sublimated sexual urge.

2. Masseurs don't make much money. A steady client can contribute an important income stream for years, not worth jeopardizing over a potential one-night stand that may go bad. She will, consequently, never go out with you.
