I'm not too fond of doing anime style art these days, but I got a special request for a pic of Misty from Pokemon, so, anime it is

My favorite pokemon was always Mew(yes, I did use to watch pokemon, many years ago, when there were still only 150, instead of ten million), so I decided to include him in this pic by making him the ler. Behold the infamous "Psychic tickle attack"!!!

Yep, Mew is a cuddly little fellow, but every other pokemon and every pokemon trainer must tremble before his might! :super_hap

Well, I hope you all like it

Janus

P.S. This is me doing the best coloring job I can... lol

No shame in enjoying Pokemon! The games and anime series have been long-time favorites of mine! And Misty, with her tomboyish, cocky pertness, is an ideal candidate for tickling discipline! Her best features are on full display in this picture: her robust posture, the tantilizingly casual dress, that distinctively tied mop of orange hair... instantly recognizable and fully eloquent of the character's appeal! One of the best interpretations of her I've seen! The impish, mysterious Mew is a bit daunting in full telekinetic mode; his regal bearing and blank, energy-infused eyes expressive of formidable might! Both figures seem to hover, weightlessly suspended in the powerful Pokemon's spell! And those pastel tones are very nice, entirely reminiscent of the cartoon! Always a joy to see Misty in a fit of helpless giggling! Leave her that way a while... perhaps it will soften some of her sass!

Wow. It's been some time since HDS has seen a splendid Misty rendition, and splendid this one is! And indeed, no shame in enjoying Pokemon; HDS too still enjoys it on the rare occasion he sees it (Usually one of the movies). From what I remember of Mew, and the somewhat "playful" nature of the 151st/250th Pokemon, the setup seems something plausible, aye aye. Silly Misty, always wearing such revealing outfits. Well done!

Mew (one of the rare pokemon) tickling Misty. Awsome drawing.

You might not be too fond of drawing anime style, but you certainly are good at it. Great job, kiddo. n_n

LBH- Thank you for the kind words my friend. I do still like the older pokemon episodes, it's the new ones I'm not too keen of, seems to me they've overdone it. They just started to pour out legendary pokemon, claiming each and everyone of them to be invincible, that just kind of screwed it up for me, specially 'cause none of them ever came even close to Mew and Mewtwo for me... ok, now that my rant is over... 😀 I too think Misty is a very proper lee, hopefully Mew will always be around to teach a lesson whenever she needs one 😉

Lonelykimiko- Thanks LK! It's always nice to hear from you

HDS- Thank you HDS! No, no shame in enjoying pokemon, I just don't like the newer seasons, I'm an older pokemon fan. I still love the Mew and Mewtwo movie, and Mew is still one of my favorite anime and videogame characters of all time, hence the decision of including him in the pic 🙂
Among the many virtues Mew possesses is that of playfulness, which suits the purpose of this pic very well, it makes me very happy to see you have noticed that, you are indeed a cunning one HDS :super_hap

11225- Thanks! Glad to see you liked it 🙂

Reed- Well, Mew and Misty are both adorable characters, so the outcome had to be that 😀 Thank you for the reply!

Sammi: You're too kind Sammi 😱 When I took up on drawing(about a year and a half ago) I started to look at a bunch drawing tutorials online, most of which were anime tutorials, after I wasted a lot of my time on those tutorials then I started to improve a little on my anime skills, specially 'cause I watch plenty of anime and most of the things I learn artwise are through observation. I usually watch every animated movie or anime series at least twice, because I get caught up paying too much attention to the art itself and not to the plot and events lol. Observation is a great teacher, I highly recommend it 😉

free2lalala- Hey kid! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the pic! :super_hap
Sorry it took so long, I just have had some busy days lately :sigh: Better late than never though, n'est ce-pas? 😀

No probs, dude. n_n I know what you mean about getting too caught up looking at the art in an anime. I was watching Full Metal Panic last week and found myself looking at the artwork that I sometimes zoned out through entire action scenes.

No problem. I'm just glad you improved. It sometimes encouraged me to draw more. 😉

FMP has some great animation, one of the best I've seen recently. I specially like the designs of Tessa and Webber. And I too found myself spacing out on some parts of that anime(not to say most of it 😀 ), specially in the action sequences with "Venom" ARMS, they were very impressive. It was a little discouraging at times though, those mecas are still way above my level :tounge:  but perhaps someday 😉

lol I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one too :super_hap

Yeah, I'm glad I improved too. lol

If you like to draw, then you should draw more, observation is useless if you don't try to apply what you learn from it and practice your hand skill 😉

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.

Awwe, misty looks so cute. Who knew that Mew was such a good tickler 😛

Lots of surprises in the little fellow! Possessing a Psychic Tickling attack is one of those nice surprises that Mew decided to show Misty :evilha:

Thanks for the reply Abadon!

Good job, Janus! You color quite well. 🙂

Thanks DFT! I'm not much of a colorist, but I tried really hard on this one. Great to see you liked it! 🙂

I think you did fine. It's clean and within the lines...looks good! Next step is shading. Are you using Photoshop to color? If so, what I do is first apply the flat color like you have done and then use the dodge and burn tools to lighten or darken areas to create shading and highlights. See attachment for a section of your misty pic with this technique applied. I've used the burn tool to darken the areas where there would be shading or shadows and lightened the areas that would have highlights with the dodge tool. This gives it a more 3 dimensional feel. Experiment with it... I think you'll have fun with it.

(I also played a bit with the toes and added a psuedo french pedicure. :content: )

Thanks for the coaching DFT :super_hap

I am using photoshop, but the word using might be an overstatement lol I don't really know that much about photoshop, I'm kind of limited to the pen tool and some very basic coloring 😀

Your version of the coloring is much better than mine, hope to see it posted here soon! 😉

Thanks DFT!

Oh I didn't color the whole thing.. I just did that sample section to illustrate my method in case you wanted to try it for yourself. I can do the whole Misty pic if you really want me to but I think it should stay as it is since you put forth the effort to do the coloring this time around. I mean only to share my tricks and tips with you, a fine artist. I don't want to make it seem like your work is in any way unfinished or in need of correction. Play with Photoshop more and more. I started way back when it was in version 3 so I've been using it for years, but I learned just by playing with it. Use some tools you have not tried before and see what results...it's fun and educational to experiment!
