You really need a cat. It doesn't matter if you don't like them. Unless you or your mother is allergic to them, you really need one. They seriously do the job, and they are cool creatures besides.

I cant have a cat because yes, my mother is allergic to them, severely. She has allergies, asthma, emphyasema, damaged lungs, and decreased breathing function, from her cancer treatment. This is common in people with COPD. My grandmother had to give her dog to my aunt, when my grandmother could no longer have the dog, due to her own COPD.
I'll have to use traps to catch the suckers.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but its only one.
I saw a fucking mouse yesterday for the first time in a long time. I've been doing a lot of cleaning, trying to ready myself for eventually moving, and suddenly one popped out! Sigh! My aunt says I need to get sticky paper to catch the suckers, as conventional traps dont work.
Hopefully I can get rid of the suckers. I've seen far too many during my years here.

Hey Mitch, I think I have a permanent solution to your startlingly long-suffering battle with the suckers.
Me and my Mrs have recently moved into a building that is literally older than the U.S. (Seriously! Our house would probably be a museum on your side of the pond...) and we knew from the start we would have trouble with them as old buildings inevitably contain mice. We put traps down, which killed plenty of mice but still didn't perturb others from coming and nibbling on our food; we're pretty sure there was a nest under the house but we couldn't get at it. Anyway, cut a long story short, all we've had to do is buy a set of "Sonic Mouse Repellers". It basically sends out a noise at a frequency that only mice can hear, and that they can't stand. I went from finding 5 mice a week on average in the traps to absolutely nothing pretty much overnight, and haven't seen or heard anything since (And I have left the traps where they were, just in case). You should be able to buy some from your local Hardware store, you'll have to get one for every room in the property but I guarantee that it will get rid of them pronto. Give it a try, it's less annoying than a cat 🙂

It's not an "excuse", DAJT. I dont want to get a cat, and cant, as I'm moving, okay? How about you stop your judgemental, sassy posts against me all the time, its getting old. You should be thrilled. My mom is going to die soon, and I have very serious issues, just like you wished me. I never once saw you make a supportive post about what I'm going through now, but you told me I'm giving "excuses" for not getting a cat.

Why is everyone so determined to make the guy get a frickin' cat? What a ridiculous thing to pester someone over. If he doesn't want one, he doesn't want one, quit being a bunch of pendejos and leave the bloke in peace.
I've been in the same boat with my own mother by the way, Mitch. All you can do is make her as comfortable as possible and take every single opportunity to tell her that you love her, and try to enjoy the last moments you have with her, as difficult as that sounds.
