Mistle..too - and a Preview!

This is the web: I could as well be a magic blue cat, a wrinkly granny, or an empty suit of armour.
Nobody can really tell.

People still make out their own image of you, innacurate as it may be. Most enjoy putting a face on an unknown person. Be honest, have you not tried to imagine what I look like even once in the course of this conversation?

I dont mind much about how people look either, and am not even slightly ashamed to admit my own geekyness, it's just that people never expect me to be like the way I am. The point being that, I didn't expect you to be a geeky guy, at least not judging by the posts from you I've read before.

Well, in a way we are copying somebody else: we are always resting on the shoulders of our drawing forefathers.

"Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing"- right? Yeah, I am of the notion that everything is a copy from a copy from a copy, and so on and so on. But being a copycat is not something I'd be too proud of...

I see your point, but consider this: you botch the timing, and other threads bury yours, shoving it down the list.
On busy weeks, new threads can push your thread down to page 2, and that means that ppl have to look for it on purpose.

Your probably right. I'd still like to stick with my thoughts, as unrealistic as they may be 😉

Disturbingly funny.

And it remains that way... a laugh accompanied by a shiver...

Speaking of images, I am glad that you sent yours along.
Thumbs up.

Thank you :super_hap Do you think it's an improvement over the last I posted?

Eh!
It is not like we can choose to stop receiving comments.
Threads tend to have a life on their own.

If I stopped replying, for instance, I would have no guarantee that ppl would not bump my threads, in my days or months.

Of course, we have no say in what people do on the forum and can definetely not tell them when and where to post.

even though I hate it when somebody bumps an old popular thread from page #10.

Try page 30...

Yeah, I try to reply to pics that I like, and if I really really like the pic, then more than once... I don't reply to some of them though, mostly when a thread is already got 30 replies and mine wouldn't make that much of a difference...

I tend to value privacy a lot, so I don't push my imagination beyond certain limits.

🙂

The point being that, I didn't expect you to be a geeky guy, at least not judging by the posts from you I've read before.
Well, I tend consider the jock vs geek breakdown rather simplistic.
You don't have to either be one or the other. Ppl are more complex than that.

...

And I pack a mean punch anyway.

😀

Joking.

🙂

"Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing"- right?
Quite the opposite!
But they realise they are doing something ELSE.
So they first have to acknowledge the existence of art before their time.
And then choose to imitate, or innovate. Or a bit from both.

You draw by, or against, a model.
You can't erase your memory, so you can claim you are creating something original, by your own standard.

You are part of a context. A milieu. And you measure and get measured by it.

Yeah, I am of the notion that everything is a copy from a copy from a copy, and so on and so on. But being a copycat is not something I'd be too proud of...
No, I don't think so: you can merge styles and innovate, within a genre.
And if you get successful, you create a new genre in itself.

And do not forget about new media of expression: the wider selection of tools you get, and the greater chance you stand of creating something original and unique.

Andrea Mantegna was a genius, by mediaeval standards, because he could do what nobody else had done before him.
Key word being "before".

Thank you :super_hap Do you think it's an improvement over the last I posted?
Are you asking for a passing comment or an indepth analysis? 😉
Choose carefully.

Makes me feel like biting a chunk off my monitor.

😀

That still doesn't assure that you haven't imagined at all 😉

And a mace, don't forget the mace...

Quite the opposite!

Sure, you can always innovate to some extent, but the way I see things, it's pretty much imposible to create something 100% original. Imagine you take a guitar and write a song, you may have put it together, but you didn't invent language, you certainly didn't invent guitars and you didn't invent songs either, so only a part of what you created is original, you know waht I mean?

No, I don't think so: you can merge styles and innovate, within a genre.
And if you get successful, you create a new genre in itself.

That's very subjective, adding to what I just said about only a part of things being original, well, evenif that part is original enough to create a new genre, who is to determine that? A bunch of "experts" which you've probably never even heard of, so I for one wouldn't be too proud of something like that(not that it would ever happen)...

And do not forget about new media of expression: the wider selection of tools you get, and the greater chance you stand of creating something original and unique.

Unique, sure, not even carbon copies are exactly the same, but I'm still favoring the no complete originality thing 😀 😀 😀

Andrea Mantegna was a genius, by mediaeval standards, because he could do what nobody else had done before him.
Key word being "before".

So was Isaac Newton, and he always said that he couln't have reached what he did if it weren't for the bases set by his predecessors. I believe his quote would be: -I can see so far away because I stand on the shoulders of giants- or something like that(I had read it in spanish and don't even recall the exact quote in it)(I'm not putting down Andrea Mantegna in any way[even if I don't know who he was], all I'm saying is that to me originality depends on your point of view and the aspects you take into account)

Are you asking for a passing comment or an indepth analysis? 😉

A yes or no would sufice...

Makes me feel like biting a chunk off my monitor.

I think it's best if you keep your mace away from the computer...

Well, I can spare just so much imagination, and my latin teacher from high school ranks a tad higher than you. 😉

Yeah, the old thing that notes are just seven. 😉

Well, success is sometimes posthumous... 😀

Unique, sure, not even carbon copies are exactly the same, but I'm still favoring the no complete originality thing 😀 😀 😀
Sometimes originality lies in how you choose to merge pre-existing bits and pieces.

The dwarves on giants' shoulders is exactly the saying I had in my mind.

(I'm not putting down Andrea Mantegna in any way[even if I don't know who he was], all I'm saying is that to me originality depends on your point of view and the aspects you take into account)
You should google him up. 😉
Pretty much groundbreaking.

A yes or no would sufice...
What was the question again?

I think it's best if you keep your mace away from the computer...
My older monitor had some dents from sword blows...

Wonderful piece of art! I totally love it! Perhaps I'm a bit late to reply, but I thought it would be terribly rude not to, more so since I really like this one. 🙂

Thank you for sharing, and let me wish you great success with your upcoming portfolio release!

Never too late, especially when you are saving it from slipping to page 2.

😉

Eh! We can only wait and see. 😉
I am not optimistic. But I seldom am.
Only time will tell.

...

Best wishes for your own releases too!

🙂
