Media files are nasty business: there are at least 4 major types out there [mpegs, quicktime movs, windows media files and real media] plus a plethora of minor codecs [Xvid, various Dvix, to name the two most wide spread].
Add to this, the upload cap of 2 megs. I think I've already pointed it out but, hey, I am thick.
If anybody can suggest a way of cramming a 60+ secs long med res video with full audio into less than 1 meg - *without* resorting to a third party codec or compression tool, well, I'd really be happy to hear.
It is not shit: it is a tech limit. Frames and sound take space.
A low compression Radius Cvid avi, 5 seconds long, with mono audio, low res, takes about 3 megs.
Too much.
Same vid, Dvix compression, no audio, under 400 kbs! That's good.
But you need to update the codecs. And that's tech shit.
What about clips in realmedia format? Last time I checked the conversion tool was in beta stage. And you need a willing soul to convert the clip.
We must cope with some tech shit, until only ONE media format will emerge, and we'll need no upload cap.
Until then, well, make do.
In this particular case, I'm posting a cropped version of the clip to help those who can't or won't cope.
Actual tickling takes just a tiny part of the whole, so this should be a workaround.
I encoded it with Window Movie Maker - so it requires an updated Windows machine.
Besides, I think it is probably illegal to tamper with promo videos - but I left the final credits in, so... let the sleeping lawyers lie. 😉
Enjoy.
