Movies that should never be/should never have been remade

3) Robocop - Should never have been remade. The first one was just the right amount of violence and action, mixed w/a little bit of satire. Plus how could you top Clarence Boddicker as a gum chewing sociopath? I refuse to watch the remake(heard it sucked).

Most of the people I know who've seen the remake said it was ok.

Honestly, the original is overrated and aged terribly.

Most Verhoeven films are schlock anyway.

I await with dread a remake of Gone With The Wind, which is no doubt in the works. The thought of what today's Hollyweird might do to this timeless classic fills me with fear and trembling. :disgust:

Hmmm... More or less I am curious to see the remake of "Gone with the Wind" to hear a more casual dialogue. The casting would be hard to replace though....

...........................

Another thing, I find the remake of "Clash of the Titans" better, but then again, I prefer the old cast.

Well in my opinion- Gone with the Winds, All Quiet in the Western Front, Titanic, Marie Poppins, The Sound of Music, Ben Hur and Casablanca.

I really hope Kelly's Heroes is never remade.

This is just a silly observation...and I haven't actually seen the movie, but..............

"Monuments Men"??.....I think it's based on some "actual events".....but when I saw the initial previews, all I could think of was.....
"Kelly's Heroes meets Ocean's Eleven"??!!

Like I said...just a silly thought!!! "Kelly's Heroes" is a classic WWII spoof, with great actors and comedians!!! I thought "Ocean's Eleven" was a pretty decent remake (and at least they got away with the money, this time!!!) LOL!!!

The entire Star Trek re - boot. Other then Karl Urban none of these people even belong in front of the camera. The new films have none of the heart or morality of it's classic predecessors. Worst of all was casting Cumberback as Khan. A whit guy playing a Sikh is even worse then casting a Korean as Sulu.

Unfortunately these two films made money despite there flaws, mainly because the film industry is so pathetic people can't tell a well polished turd from a diamond in the rough.

They should have left the franchise alone, let the interest in it build again. Now we trekkies are stuck with two of the worst writers in Hollywood today working on our franchise, with no respect for the fans that made it successful in the first place.

Ugh...I was going to say "The Godfather". No way, no how.

Oh, didn't you here, Abrams and Bay are collaborating. A CGI Marlon Brando to play Don Corleon, see this black hole opens up and his grandson goes back in time and saves him with his contemporary medical knowledge...

Justin Bieber will be playing Dr. Corleon, and because of the time change nobody else in the movie will be able to act either.

I agree about The Searchers, The Godfather and the Pink Panther films. Leave them alone!!!

Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus are starring in the remake of "Gone With The Wind". Should blow away the original.

Hey man, don't mess w/the Biebs. He wears shades, bling, and baggy pants, so you know he's got mad street cred!

I can't believe the same country that produced national treasures like Laura Vandervoort, Natasha Henstridge, SCTV, Rush, Stampede Wrestling, Ted Cruz, Phil Hartman, Vancouver, Larry Walker Justin Morneau and Molson Beer is also responsible for William Shattner, and Justin Bieber

A Nightmare on Elm Street should have never been remade. Robert Englund is the one and only Freddie and wasn't even asked to play him. Fright Night should have never been remade either. You can't replace Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowall. There is no way that they could get a better cast and that kind of chemistry than in the original. Colin Farrell sucked. John Carpenters version of The Thing is another one. I know his was a remake, but it's still the best of the 3. Rob Zombie did a good job with Halloween as well, but this was another exception. It must be just about time for a new Bram Stokers Dracula isn't it? It will be tough besting the last one.

When was "Nightmare" remade? It must've bombed because I never heard about it.
Nightmare on Elm Street should've never been remade but there also should never have been a sequel, let alone several sequels. The easiest way to make a villian or hero boring is to make them too powerful. When Freddie went from being a charred child molester to someone who could kick Godzillas ass, it all went downhill. Same w/the Sharks in Jaws, and Rocky Balboa.

The version of Psycho with Vince Vaughn. I haven't seen it since it came out but if I remember right it was basically a pointless shot-for-shot copy.

I saw bits and pieces of the sequels to Psycho. Low-rent ripoffs of Alfred Hitchcock's classic!

It came out in 2010. I liked the original and all of the sequels. The 2nd one was probably the worst of the series and even that wasn't too bad. The newest version was horrible IMHO. It played at all the major theaters. I have no idea why you never heard about it. I agree with you about Jaws and Rocky and I've never been a Godzilla fan.

Personally, I didn't think the Longest Yard Remake was that bad.

Now I'm not gonna lie, when it comes to Football, I'm one of the Biggest Fans out there. So there isn't really a Football Themed Movie that I've watched, and didn't like lol.

I did like how they had Multiple Former NFL Players in the Cast though.

They better leave the 'Nameless Cowboy Trilogy' alone. As well as other classics like 'The Man From Laramie', 'Once Upon a Time in the West', 'The Dirty Dozen', and 'The Magnificent Seven'.

movies that should be remade:
christine...altho that john carpenter score would be difficult to top..
pet semetary...the book was so much more terrifying then the movie..they could do better...
movies that should not be remade:
an american werewolf in london...i understand their trying to get a remake off the ground...what the hell for? john landis did it right the first time
halloween....all i have to say is fuck you rob zombie...stick to music where your actually wanted..you did good with devils rejects, leave it at that
the goonies...theres another plot to remake the goonies....dude just leave it alone...who asked you to destroy perfectly good memories....

My original quote was actually incorrect. I meant to say Nightmare on Elm Street should NOT have been remade. I forgot to include the word "not". Just now noticed and corrected it.
We'll have to agree to disagree on Godzilla. I love the big green guy!
BTW I think there are some classic movies that can be successfully remade if the right director and actors are selected.
Off the top of my head, maybe Cool Hand Luke, if a legit bad ass actor w/credibility was chosen to play Luke. Maybe Liam Neeson, Daniel Craig, Deniro, Christian Bale, or Samuel L. Jackson

This. Also................Kelly's Heroes. Even if there are genuine Tiger tanks that are runners.

The only thing I liked about the Longest Yard remake was that they did have some great former NFL players, including an HOFer in Michael Irvin.
The original was a comedy but had a more realistic serious tone. The remake was just a bunch of guys clowning around in front of a camera, kind of like an Austin Powers movie. I will say this though, Courtney Cox never looked sexier, even though she was only in the movie for about 5 minutes.
I also love the NFL, but some football movies look like they were written and directed by people who'd never seen an NFL game in their life.
The Replacements for example was embarrassingly inaccurate on so many levels, not to mention a crap movie alltogether(I was actually an extra in that movie, although it would be impossible to spot me. I was one of thousands of fans in the stands during the game scenes)

Ben-Hur
Blade Runner
Meet Joe Black

Spaceballs
Blazing Saddles
Uncle Buck
Labyrinth
Pan's Labyrinth
JFK
Mad Max
Legend
Cool Hand Luke
To Kill a Mocking Bird
Gone with the Wind

I agree w/most of these except 2;

Robocop 3; Robocop 1 & 2 were classics (plus 2 had an incredible foot tickling scene) but RBC 3 was pure crap

Blazing Saddles; IMHO the most overrated comedy of all time (along w/Caddyshack). Why do so many people think this waste of celluloid is funny? I don't get it.

Psh, Bieber is a fucking hack who can't sing worth shit!

I'd choose AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, or hell, even the Scorpions ANY DAY of the week over that little piece of crap!

I only included Robocop 3 because it was part of the old series but your right, it wasn't that good at all.

As for Blazing Saddles, I included that because my father loved that movie (along with Caddyshack) and as such I saw them both at least once a year growing up. So, in the end, they both ended up growing on me (like a fungus grows on a piece of meat). I'll admit that both of them don't compare to Spaceballs.

Here are two movies I'll say shouldn't be remade:

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Yes, those are the ONLY Indiana Jones movies and if anyone tries to correct me you are wrong and should be punched!

Two of my Favorites were in it. Irvin, and former LB Bill Romanowski who has a Solid Career, played in Five SuperBowls and Won 4 Rings. I think his attitude though is what's kept him out of Canton.

Others were Brian Bosworth (Who was kinda a Bust), and Terry Crews (Who did play for a Few Years)

And Yes, Cox looked Fine as Hell 😉

Now when it comes to the Replacements, I saw it for the first time years after it came out. And I found out what it was based off of before I actually saw the Movie. When I did finally see it, before it even started, I had a Feeling that it wasn't gonna be very Accurate. And that they were gonna have to change some things around. So I kinda give that movie a slight Pass.

One thing about that movie, (This is probably just the Redskins Fan in me Talking), but since it was based off of them, I thought it should have been Filmed in their Stadium. And it's nothing against where they shot it (Baltimore)
