movies?

Dang it...

Forgot American History X...basically any movie with Edward Norton in it is phenomanal...American Beauty and American Pie (1 and 2) also quite good...and yes, oh yes please, may we have a DragonLance movie...one directed at least in part by the fans of the series. And of course Weiss and Hickman. Speaking of which, a Death Gate movie would be kickin, too.

Hey M.I.B., Titanic IS on my list ....
my list of the worst movies I've ever seen. ...
The absolute worst is Waterworld.

Best and worst movies

LOL Charlie. Worst movies is another list. Waterworld didn't disappoint me that much, but Supergirl is near the top of my list of most disappointing movies.

Ticklish9's, after reading your post I added American Beauty to my list of faves, very well done movie.

i can`t see how anyone could like titanic,i mean we all know what happens...the ship sinks

Favorite Movie

So many choices, so little time.🙄

In no particular order

Below are films I could just watch over and over with groups of friends, especially if someone hasn't seen it yet.

Highlander
UHF
The Matrix
A Fish Called Wanda
City Hunter (the live action with Jackie Chan)
God of Cookery
The Emporer's New Groove
Monty Python's Holy Grail
Young Frankenstein
The Player
Neverwhere (BBC 2 TV series)

other favorites

Treasure of the Sierre Madre
Keylargo
Star Wars Trilogy

Comedies:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Clerks
Young Frankenstein
Spaceballs
Murder By Death (A Mystery parody from the mid 70s with David Niven, Peter Sellers, Peter Falk, James Coco, Sir Alec Guinness, & Truman Capote. Rent it if you can.)
UHF

SF/Action:
Forbidden Planet (The Krell's Great Machine and the Monster from the id still look stunningly impressive even after 4+ decades)
The Original Star Wars Trilogy (Not the Special Edition. I've heard a rumor that George Lucas only altered the series in the Special Edition just meet a quota of new material in order to have them considered different films from the originals, just to spite his ex-wife who had won the revenue from future showings of the original Trilogy as part of the divorce settlement. If true, that makes the "Greedo shoots first" and the "Jedi Rock" musical number even more unforgivable.)
Batman The 1989 Tim Burton original. We shall not speak of the hateful Joel Schumacher and his sequels.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm The animated feature is the best treatment of Bruce's angst at being the Bat I've seen on the screen.
The Rocketeer
Dark City
StarGate
The Hunt for Red October
The Iron Giant

Da-da-dadada-dadada-dadada...

The all time best movie ever in the history of the world, bar none, is Rocky.

Really.

Forget everything you know about Stallone and watch it again. You'll see.

Oh, and all those others everyone mentioned are pretty good too. 🙂

Matrix
X-Men
Spider-Man
Batman
Batman Returns (Batman Forever was okay...Batman and Robin just plain sucked. )

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm ( so it's an animated movie, so what? It still kicked ass. 😀 )

Scary Movie ( was laughing my a** off just a min into the movie. lol)

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers ...yes, I listed that...it was darker than the series ( Ivan Ooze nearly killing Zordon, nearly making hundreds of parents walk over a cliff to their death, destroying an elevated train track..and a train carrying mostly kids is on it...and of course, Ivan's comments to the Tenchu fighters: " You can't even kill a few teenagers?!!" ) so it was much better, IMO . Besides..the special effects were cool. lol

And then one animated movie no one else has mentioned, the He-Man/She-Ra animated movie , "Secret of the Swords" which was basically the origin of She-Ra. For He-Man/She-Ra fans, this was THE "Masters of the Universe " movie. Not that crappy live action disgrace.

Love that list, Headtripper...by far the most comprehensive and well-rounded of the ones listed here. As a former film major, I figure I might as well throw my hat into the ring here. In addition to the films he listed, I would also submit the following (in rough chronological order):

The General
Battleship Potempkin
Nosferatu
Wizard of Oz
Citizen Kane
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
The Asphalt Jungle
Vertigo
The Seven Samurai
The 400 Blows (which, incidentally, is also a great porn title 🙂 )
Breathless (Godard's A Bout de Souffle, not the remake with Gere)
Bonnie and Clyde
2001: A Space Odyssey
Godfather Part 2
Taxi Driver
Manhattan
Raging Bull
Pulp Fiction
Mulholland Drive

Well, there's 20. I could just as easily go to 200, but I figure I might as well stop before this turns into a thesis.
