My friend was approached by a foot fetishist. Are we creepy?

So I woke up today with a status update from a friend of mine, we'll call her Sam just for protection purposes, and she posted something that made me think a bit today. I don't talk to Sam much anymore but I've known her since high school and we've been through a lot together in the past. She's a somewhat attractive blonde girl who's not fat but has a big kind of build. She wears flip flops a lot and I know from a lot personal experience that her feet are extremely ticklish. She doesn't know about my fetish at all but there was a never a need to say anything. Anyway my point.

So apparently her boyfriend had just dropped her off at the mall and when she was completely alone a guy with a camera walked straight up to her and asked her to take pictures of her feet for his website. Her immediate reaction was to run into straight into the mall as fast as possible. She was genuinely terrified of this guy mostly due to the fact that he did this in a public setting and waited until she was completely by herself not just because her boyfriend left but in public she was alone too.

It made me think and it really disturbed me honestly. I mean I've seen dozens of videos here of women who get approached by the same type of guys and have been turned on by it. But this is the first time where I've heard of a situation where its actually happened to someone that I know pretty well actually.

My instinct when I first heard this story was that she made the right call but the other part of me really started thinking to myself if I was at all "creepy" for liking this sort of stuff in the past. I mean maybe the guys was legitimately running a website or maybe this guy was a rapist I have no idea, but either way it really made me question myself. Am I some sort of creeper for having this fetish or am I just letting one idiot get to me? Or was this guy not an idiot and my friend didn't make the right call?

What the guy did to your friend was definitely creepy. Approaching a stranger in a mall and asking to take foot pics, is, to me, the equivlant of forced foot play. I've never done that.

Many foot fetishists have probably done "unadvisable" things regarding feet. I'm guilty of asking both my friend Adam's sister, and my ex best friend's sister, to smell their feet, and take pictures of their feet. At the time I asked both of them, I was in my late teens, they were in their early 20s, and both already involved with their bfs, who have since become their husbands. Of course, both girls said no to my requests, as they felt it inappropriate.

Asking girls you know well to do things to their feet? Maybe not appropriate, but not.. all the way out there. What happened to your friend, completely creepy.

What makes a person creepy is indulging there desires or fetishes to a stranger. There is a thing called personal space and this guy invaded it. He may think he is being complementary to her but not all women want guys ogling at there body parts. Let alone what they may do to themselves with a photo of that body part. It's interesting that I stumbled upon this thread because last week a friend of mine was also approached by a man who adored her feet. It was a nice day and some people pulled out their sandals including her. She told me that he said "I love your nail polish and I'd kiss your feet if you'd let me". Now, I'm understanding of men with foot fetishes and I'm not here to judge anyone for I wouldn't want to be judged myself. However, if I were to be approached in that same manner, I'd find his approach to be a little disturbing. Not because he admires women's feet, but because I wouldn't know him from a hole in the wall, and that's not a topic you'd expect someone to just share in passing. Now if it's a guy I've known for a while, or someone I'm dating....hey I'm all for it, but if you only saw me for the first time heading to work or wherever, then unless we have some type of rapport. I dont think having the fetish makes you a creeper.... I think how people ACT on it makes them a creeper. We are a community in conflict over this concept. This word "creepy" has a lot of power in this community. In my opinion, too much power, especially considering that it's a very blurred line between "deviant" and "creepy." Besides "creepy" is entirely an opinion, and not everyone feels or uses it the same way. Ssomething tells me that this guy has done this in the past and likely some girls were fine with it. Not every girl will be freaked out by his approach. Everyone is different.

I wasn't going to post my opinion on this topic, but hey, since so many are weighing in I thought I'd toss in my two cents.....

Every human is a potential victim, women especially. Learning how to defend yourself is more affordable than ever. It's always better to never need it than to need it and say "I wished I'd taken those classes!" Whether it's 'creepy' or not is subjective and open to interpretation. If your friend felt uncomfortable she made the right choice.
Appealing as it is to go with the majority, I simply cannot. I cannot fault someone for expressing their appreciation for beautiful feet and asking to photograph them (there are plenty of artists who photograph all sorts of ordinary people and assorted human parts everyday) and to me it is much the same as seeing a beautiful face and saying "Wow, you are really beautiful do you mind if I photograph you?" Nor can I fail to see how such a thing would make your friend uncomfortable. Human interaction is inherently unbalanced and judged by the two parties interacting. I can't really come down on either side.

I am proudly different. I love tickling and I am not afraid to admit it openly and just who decides what is deviant and what isn't? Perhaps this is my libertarian nature rearing it's live and let live head, but if two adult parties are consenting, how is this deviant?
