I mean a flat scanner. Rather than taking a pic of your art with a camera

A flat-bed scanner usually comes with a lid, and presses the sheet of paper down, resulting in a cleaner image.
This is the difference between a photo and a scan, even before editing.

Well, he probably didn't want to advertise his fetishes too much, and folded those drawings for safe keeping and privacy.
Who knows, maybe with AI becoming rampant, pencil drawings on crumpled paper become proof of authenticity and a connoisseur's thing.
