she has shown multiple incredibly talented pictures, both tk and non-tk, and i think she deserves her own artists pad forum....who else agrees, and can this be done?

As long as we don't start getting into the habit of handing out forums simply because a person can draw or they're friends, then I support this nomination.

Sammi's talent is growing, slowly but surely, and if having a forum NOW will help and encourage her down the line, then having the forum makes sense to me. The timing and actual awarding is, of course, up to the staff.

If I had one, I'd post more. Give everybody one.

We'd need to change the artist pad forum discription, then.

"Featuring the best talents of our resident tickle artists."

There that word best again. If we want to give the impression that we're willing to give a forum to any artist, regardless of their art (quality, experience, talent), how long they've been here, how often they contribute, etc, then this needs to change.

I'm sure that, in the early going, we used the word best because we were/are proud of our regular artists, and that, at the time of the labeling, we wanted the new forum (artpad) to represent a special feature, attraction, or something coveted that we, as a competing site, possessed.

"We have the best artists in town" may just be a figure of speech. It may or may not be factual.

This is easily solved by just removing "best" from the discription (in the case of our discription, anyway). I realize that the discription, as is, can also mean that our artists will only post their best or that we want them to. Thats an odd-ball too. Artists shouldn't have to post their best, unless, of course, thats what gets them forum in the first place. I doubt thats the thinking behind it.

That sounds like I'm undeserving.

Exactly. If you award forums only to our best artists, then its exclusive and tells others they're not deserving. This makes it a technical issue, as is using the term best to begin with. You're judging what is best based on feedback and visual tangibility in the quality of the art.

If you award the forums to anyone with no regard to these things, then that superficially makes everyone happy, and it makes getting a forum easier and more likely, but it sort of contradicts the point of having a forum dedicated to our "best" artists or the "best" of that work if anyone can have one. The term contradicts itself.

"A collection of forums dedicated to specific artists of tickling images."

That is the discription of the TMF equivelent of the Artpad. I think its actually more precise than what we have and more appropriate by comparision. It's neither hurtful nor presumptious.

You're reading into this and putting words in my mouth.

First, I don't really want one. And I'm not basing it on feedback from any of my work or past postings. You, Vlad, of all people here, should understand that there are two things that fly here on any skill level - anime and the fetish content. And since this is the TT, that's certainly appropriate. Otherwise, you wouldn't have people bumping their own threads so often looking for feedback. But you can wipe your mouth on a napkin and if it resembles a foot or feather, you'll get 2000 views and worlds of praise. I don't care if people here like my art or not. I do it for a living which is probably why I just watch here.

I don't even know Sammi's art or care if everyone has a forum, so I won't pull this thread off topic anymore, but it's pretty obvious that the major deciding factor around here is quantity.

Again... sorry, Sammi. Nothing personal, I'm not familiar with your stuff. These comments have nothing to do with you, which is why I'll stop posting here.

I'm not meaning to put words in your mouth. What you said was pretty ambiguous at first. I'm sorry for misunderstanding. I will admit to reading into this.

For what its worth, I took you seriously, but only because its obvious that if you were to have a forum here, you would truely deserve it. Its a no-brainer with you. You're just that good. You're far better than me, most certainly have much more experience, and are in a league no one here (that has shown themselves anyway) can hope to reach any time soon. To keep the term "best" in the discription and apply it to someone such as yourself would be accurate.

I figure that you probably wouldn't want one for the reasons you just stated.

Looking at it from your point of view, IF you are indifferent about this topic, then I can wager safely why. It makes sense and its not unreasonable or haughty. 🙂

It's been 6 of the 8 last days working all-nighters. There's much to be done.

I want to say you're doing it to yourself, but then thats rude and inconsiderate of your situation.

Whats equally rude is continuing to post like this. So we'll both stop (and you WILL go to bed.)

* nudges Vlad *

Oi, give a look at that list...

Hey I'm all for giving Sammi an Artist Pad forum coz I think her work is awesome and her pics have come on a lot.

But I think Vlad has a point....we can't just keep handing them out willy nilly.Coz then that would take the fun out of them being desirable. At the end of the day it's up to the mods. But it would be cool if she had one.

Being an artist I thought I should put my two cents in. I have no opinion one way or the other on whether someone should get their own Pad place. Simply posting art in the "tickling art" forum would be enough for me, but then, I don't do a lot of tickling art either.
Being that art is a subjective thing, its difficult to say whether or not someone's work should be listed under the "best" title. Who decides what's best? or even good? And I won't get into the arguement of what "art" is.

I tend to look at giving out Artist's subsections as Myriads of the TMF does: multiple criteria must be fulfilled. I'm going to quote him now:

Let me give you some insight into how I come to deal these things out.

An artist comes to my attention by any of a various number of ways. So I get a name. When I get time I review some of their work, and look at what people have to say about it. If they had Golden Feather nominations that is noted and can help. That's the 'work' part of the equation. Art is subjective. I view it with a very open attitude when I do this. I see what people say. I also look to see what is not said.

Then I look at how this person has acted as a member of our community. This involves the way they have posted here on the forum, if they have caused moderation issues, and the attitude in which they have interacted with their peers. This aspect is more important to me then the other. The TMF is about community and the part you've played in it is very important to me when I'm handing out a perk like an archive. This is the ‘community’ or ‘spirit’ part of the equation.

I'll also occasionally ask other community members what their opinions are on an artist to see what a peer thinks. I find that peer review often offers up insights that I miss in the other areas.

I take all this and make a call. Using this method I’ve OKed all the archives you see, and denied a few as well.
Pure quality is not the only item in the equation. We examine multiple factors before deciding on whether to grant an archive or not. Just because one or more members might not consider an artist's work up to their standards does not mean that artist is not worthy. Art is subjective, as Myriads said. If an artist member is an upstanding member of the community, contributes their art at least every so often, has work of merit (A loose and open definition) and has some community support behind their nomination, an archive will likely be considered.

well, in that case HDS, sammi seems to fit perfectly...she submits art to the forum every week-2 weeks, has been an active, good member of the community for quite some time, has a ton of friends, and tons of people that love her work.

This thread wins.

I approve of this proposition if it's okay with the admins and Sammi. I believe that Sammi fits the expectations and requirements to have a forum of her own and I enjoy her work but it really comes down to what she wants and if the admins approve.

Hey, has anybody asked Sammi about a gallery, before giving her one?

I'm not opposed to the idea. I'm quite flattered by it, actually. I've refrained from replying to the thread so far, because I want this to be you guys' (members, and of course staff) call on whether or not I deserve such an honour. My sincere thanks to those who've encouraged my art in the past. And I want you all to know that whatever is decided, it won't affect how much art I post here. I'll still love sharing with you all. n_n

That quote is genius, btw. Bonus points to Myriads.

Thats a very good point to make. I'm glad that other people are putting alot of thought into this, also. 🙂
