My knowledge of the plot behind this anime is "It's got something to do with robots, right?". :weird: Anywho, my ignorance notwithstanding, I've been told the characters names are Asuka (in red) and Rei (in white).

Enjoy!

PS - Congratulations to the Canadian World Junior Hockey team and their gold medal finish.

Wow! Great pic! The girl in red is so cute. I love her smile. I love pics where the 'lees look like they're having fun.

Auska may be my top favorite anime girl (I like Rei too, but her wounded-fawn, distant persona makes her a bit hard to cosy up to). I never tire of watching her in tickling scenarios! These are excellent interpretations! The torture is pretty fiendish, too (a NERV conditioning course?) You're getting a very firm handle on the computer coloring, Snail Shell! It looks terrific!

It has very little to do with "robots", thats often the mistake people make when looking at Evangelion at a glance. And yes, they are Asuka Langley and Rei Ayanami, respectively.

Evangelion is my favorite anime and I pride myself on having an otaku's knowledge. It really comes in handy for discussions that abound about this series

Nice picture.

great quality and a great pic, my friend. i also love the feathered soles, a nice touch i always like. seems like they're having a laughing good time.

Excellent! That is a fantastic picture, Snail Shell - the art and the colouring and everything else is extremely well-done - thank you! 😀

*SPOILER BELOW*

As art goes it might be fine but being a fan of NGE myself I find it hard to see Rei tickled as she is a souless husk. A re-usable clone copied hundreds of times
and to the writer who prides themselves on their okatu knowledge of NGE or EVA they are right EVA is actually more about states of mind and Jewish mysticism then giant robots

I've never seen the show, but it doesnt matter; this pick is still great! 😀

I feel really old now. Watching Eva when I was 13 and enjoying it, watching it 6 years later (now) at the uni's anime society and only just realising that each character is modelled off a differnt part of the brain.

Plus, I'm now too old for Asuka :<

Hahahaha. XD Nice pic.

You don't want us to try and summarize the plot here. XD

I just finished watching NGE for the first time tonight, and although I really really enjoyed it, I'd be lying if I said I completely understood it. I'm going to have a loook around online and see if there's a sort of "Evangelion for Dummies" website that can explain a few things to me. 😀

Also, before anyone accuses me of being an art thief, I have asked Snail Shell for permission to use the picture in my signature. 😛 My old signature was somewhat bland.

Many thanks to eveyone who replied. I'll have to look into this series as I know nothing about it and everyone seems to be telling me it has nothing to do with giant robots. Fair enough. 🙂

Great signature Senshi. 😉

I have always been a fan of your work snail shell, and NGE is one of my favorite animes ^^

There will be no need for that. Ask me anything you want and I most likely know the answer and can explain it from a wider point of view.

This is not the place for it however, so e-mail or PM me if you'd like. 🙂

sounds like i gotta get on the whole NGE bandwagon.

*runs off to the video store*

It's not for everyone, so watch at your own risk, Norm. Some people are immediately turned off by it and find it completely boring and uninteresting if it doesn't deliver what they expected it to based on appearances. It also helps in understanding if you're up on your theology, religion, mythology, etc.

There is little action in this series, most of it deals with the interconnecting relationships. In fact, I still believe this show shouldn't classified as an action/adventure. It truely is a drama, through and through.

EDIT: If you're a thinker, debater, conversationlist, and like looking for easter eggs, hidden meanings, and the like, this anime is for you.

This is a "wise man's" anime, of sorts.

If you want mindless violence and mecha missle combat action ala Gundam, then you're in for a rude awakening.

yeah, anime tends to be a gamble, but that's the beauty of video rental

And the dubbing isn't bad either. This series features some of the best american voice actors. And as it an ADV release, there is some assurance of that quality. If you're fortunate enough to have the dvds, this series was so popular it was dubbed in french and spanish also by default. And by now I'm sure it's been re-dubbed for God knows how many other countries.

Although if you want to be all poser purist zealot anime otaku-like, then you can only listen to it in japanese with subtitles while eating pocky and cuddling with your overpriced plushie. 😀

i think, if it has visual quality, good character plots, humor and good action scenes, i'm sure to be hooked.

i heard there was another Ghost in the Shell show? is that true? cause i'm a big fan of that movie and Stand Alone Complex.

What people who get into this show only barely now have to realize, is that Evangelion is already old by industry standards. So there are minor annoyances with lip flaps and such every so often.

But this series has had the luxury of being re-mastered several times since it's original product release, so some may not notice. Although if you're renting or buying VHS you're probably out of luck.

The show can be corny (intentionally) at times and so laid back that you forget you're watching an anime. Its like they really make you a part of these people's lives on a daily basis. For me at least, it was like watching a show you really like with characters you can relate to in some way. And not just superficially, I mean at the core of your being.

Its pleasantly surprising that an animated film could do this. You'd expect this from reality, not from an anime, and thats perhaps the ultimate beauty of this series. Mr. Ano is a genius.

As for what you're looking for, it has a little bit of everything, but it's spread out from episode to episode. Some episodes may seem uneventful, while another is funny, while another is super deep and serious, and then back to mellow, etc. That is until toward the end of the series, where things get really deep out of necessity of the climax.

This series has a sporadic and fluctuating way of continuing the plot until the climax. Although don't put too much stock into what an otaku like me says, since I'm most definitely bias.

As for Ghose in the Shell, I'm not sure.

Omg, the pics awsome. And the show involves robots, but its not completely about big robots. And whats with shenji not likingh piloting a big robot? Sorry, off topic, anyway, yeah, Rei is my fav anime girl fo all time!

I could answer that....I could answer just about everything....but not here. Grrr, all this useless knowledge and it's going to waste! LOL 😛
