Longest distance to NEST? Max would know. They used to keep a world map and mark points. The UK has had SEVERAL representatives, and one was Scottish, though she was livin' in England at the time.

Two of them still attend, last I heard. I like 'em both. Hope to meet you there, too!

Hi all.....

Well I am actually considering saving to try and go to the NEST in May, though my nerves are going to take some beating

Does anyone know what the furthest is someone has travelled to be at a NEST? Coming from Scotland also makes it a tad more scary, and I have only ever met with one ler before and that had me terrified enough!
Any advice is appreciated🙂

I remember my very first Gathering, I was so stunned by it all that I didn't even do any tickling, even thought there were four or five yummy ladies there to be tickled! I was just floored by it all, and they were all veterans, so it was old hat to them. But we learn by doing! Only way to know how you'll feel is by checking it out, and you may surprise yourself and turn into an insatiable ticklish monster! I remember long and long ago, I went to the pool at the high school (when, as a wee laddie, that was the BIG time) and they had three diving boards--the regular one that everybody and their damned brother was in line for, the medium height one, with less of a line, to be sure, but hey, that's kinda high to be jumping off! And The High Dive. No line. No waiting. And no way in HELL I was going to climb that high and willingly jump, not for all the tea in China, nosirreebob. Until my friend Ken told me, if we go home, and you haven't done it, you'll regret it. And even that young, I knew he was wise for pointing that out to me, (damn him LoL), so I did it, and it's one of my fonder memories. SO... go for it! You'll have a great time with safe, respectful people who UNDERSTAND (that's a big selling point in and of itself) and SHARE your love of tickling. And you'll regret it if ya don't!

One fear I have is ending up in a corner all night, and being too scared to approach anyone! Also, and I'm sure you are all lovely people, but I still have the worry of being grabbed or lunged at by strangers, though I realise there are rules. Is it likely I could meet with people prior, and attend with them? Also are there any sites I could read about it? What kind of setting is the event held in? I do apologise for all the questions, any replies are appreciated, as would be any accounts of a "first timer" at a gathering! Ok, pestering session finished!

No worries about being left as a wall flower all night, my dear... FAR too many gregarious people in this little family of ours to allow that! And as far as being pawed by those without the sense to be respectful, there are large lads about who will explain, at length if need be, the need to keep one's hands in one's pockets until invited to touch. These events are a precious thing that we've made happen, and people who endanger us having them are at grave bodily risk. Safety and Respect are paramount at them, and those who violate that trust are dealt with quickly. And, unless you were arriving the same day as the event, it'd be nearly impossible to NOT meet with us prior, hang out, get to know us better, feeling comfortable. And this is the best place to read about Gatherings, bar none. All the war stories get told here. Oh, and shush about "pestering" and asking questions! I learned long ago that the only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked! Ask away! That's why we're all here, to share this!

NEST is the best!

Last year was my first NEST and I had a great time. When Jan talks about how cool it is to be with likeminded people that are also into tickling, she hits the nail on the head. It was great to meet some of my favorite online personalities in person. There really is something to be said for putting a face with the name. Most of the people look nothing like how you picture them. If I were required to offer any criticism of the event it would be that it is only one day out of the year, and not every weekend! 🙂

Oh I can tell NEST is going to be Absolutely incredible, but then it always is.

For the ladies, I can vouch that the guys who attend Nest treat us with the utmost respect. I went to my first NEST in April 1999. I flew across country alone and was pretty nervous for the same reasons many of you have. I thought I'd get pawed or who knows what. Well from the first time I got to meet any of the gang I felt SO comfortable. I wasn't pawed at. I did get to receive and give lots and lots of hugs to so many people from online who were there. I was actually in tears a few days later when I had to leave to fly home.

I finally felt fulfilled. I had encountered over 50 people at that gathering who all had the same interest in ticklking that I had. It was absolutely wonderful.

I haven't missed a NEST since then. The numbers have grown immensely year over year. Last year we had an added event that we will continue to do each NEST. We had a pre-party in a public place where people could get to know each other, share some munchies and visit. I think we had about 45 people at the Pre-NEST Munch. That made it SO much easier, especially for newer folks, to come to the NEST because they now had a familiar face. Several of us met up to ride together and have lunch before hand. There were several folks who came for the munch who could not make it to NEST due to work schedules. But they came just to meet the folks. Then those who wished to continue the party just came back up to our room afterwards for more fun and silliness and yes some tickling happened! LOL

Ladies, I can guarantee you that there are at least 30 gentlemen of the highest caliber who will protect you. There are also lots of the ladies who will be protecting you as well. So many of us have either hosted or attended gatherings in the past so we know what to watch for and will deal with any situation immediately and without hesitation.

Once we get to the actual NEST function, play will not begin before we go over the rules. The rules are there for everyone's protection. There will always be several people around monitoring things to make sure everything is going ok for you. In addition, you do not need to participate in the actual tickling. If you just want to watch or just sit and visit with folks, that's just fine. No one is EVER forced into anything. I can base my reputation on that without hesitation.

So if you're concerned in any way, drop us a note. We will be sending out information shortly to everyone and will be gathering names and such for the upcoming event.

I can't wait to see you all and meet some of you for the first time.

Gosh, I love hearing that! 😀 I'm constantly hearing people complain that there's nothing near them. But, none ever seem willing to do something to make it happen. Very refreshing! I applaud you, crydun...and anyone who works with you! That's how we got things rolling here in CT. We just connected with the Venrays and went from there. Nothing's ever likely to be as big as NEST. But, it doesn't have to be. If you need any support or ideas, there are plenty of us here willing to give it. Just let us know.

I was thinking something a little closer to me. Columbus is about three or four hours from here. Not sure about how ticklebear and ticklebunny feel about driving that far. Maybe Toledo would be better. it' just an hour or so north of me. any ideas?????

Crydun, post such in the East Coast section of Gatherings, and in the MidWest NEST area too, and fish for assistance. There might actually BE someone that just ain't so big on limelight, y'know? FWIW, though, 3 hours ain't a biggie, drivin'-wise, once Spring hits. It's in the frozen months that it's a bitch. Bella's still gonna know what t'do better, and she'll have a list of bodies, some of whom are in your area, and others who are outta state. Do keep in mind, man, that I attended a MidWest NEST, and I was Californian at the time. I'll be at NEST, and I'm now in Canada. Some of us will make the effort, y'know? 😉
