The expression "mulata" is a praise in Brazil.

Back in the day in the south, even now at times hear in VA, It's used to describe a person who is mixed with black and white.Some people consider it a derogatory remark.Mixed seems to be more acceptable up hear,or high yellow belive it or not.White people would use mulata as an insult.Anyway,if thats beauty in Brazil then so be it.

Sometimes people just don't know any better & think what they are saying is not offensive or don't care. Not the case here. It was just a simple misunderstanding.
