Hi hi.

I'm BashfulHeart (it's an alias >.>) and I'm a fur and ... well... I dunno if it's so much a -fetish- as a fixation... I've discussed it once or twice with my mate and he thinks it's more fixation than fetish but I dunno.. *shrug*

I've glanced at this forum a couple of times before, so I decided I might as well try to frequent it a bit... maybe put my two cents in every once in a while...

Just for reference's sake, I'll include a picture of my alias, it's kinda chibi, though, and I do NOT want to see her used in anything r- or x-rated -.-;; My character, designed by me, copyright me, etcetera etcetera etcetera...

Welcome. 🙂

If you're going to accredit your creations and share them you might as well do it the right way and use the actual copyright symbol. ©

Also, "me" is not a person. It would be better if you copyrighted it to your actual real name or your alias.

Example:

Artwork by & © BashfulHeart

If you don't know how to type the copyright symbol and you have a laptop press and hold the alt and fn keys, and then press mjo9 then release the alt and fn keys.

If you're on a desktop, you can use the number pad and press and hold alt and then press 0169 then release the alt key.

Also, if you want to call attention to the copyrights it would be a good idea to put that part in bold type as well. 🙂

Vlad, are you a lawyer by any chance? You are always so thourough that I am starting to wonder. If you aren't, it is a profession that you might look into. Also, thank you for telling me the shortcut for the copyright symbol. No more character map for me. ^^

I am not a lawyer, but I have been told on several occasions that my attention to details and my willingness to pursue even minute technicalities are strong points I could put toward being a lawyer and helping people. One of my cousins is going through law school right now, but I don't think it's something I'd enjoy in the long run even though I'd be making good money and it would allow me to further channel my argumentive/debative energy.

And you're welcome. 🙂 I used to use the cumbersome character map as well until I learned the hotkeys for the symbol. It's not to bash the character map, since it makes a perfect reference sheet for all the other characters and symbols you may find yourself needing you use sometimes.

EDIT:

I'd also like to take this time to remind my fellow artists that you have natural copyrights upon the creation of a work, and it is good for the duration of your life plus 75 years thereafter. So while you have this natural right/priviledge, so to speak, it is still good practice to accredit yourself publically in both an amateur and professional capacity. You can also register your work with the U.S Copyright Office. 🙂

Really? 75 years after you die? How did they come up with that number, do you know?

Basically, the idea was/is that the work(s) would be protected indefinitely through generations so as to maintain any legacy or business ventures the work(s) might have had/have or continue to be associated with (Disney for example).

The alotted time allows the copyright owners, and any appointed heirs or beneficiaries to the copyrights to plan the future of the copyrighted material.

In the event of accidental or natural death (or murder) in one's lifetime, the number was set as such (75 being another life term thereabouts) so as to freeze the assets until such a time they can be dispensed legally or renewed via said appointed heirs and/or beneficiaries.

The point is to defend the owner's material for as long as possible so as to discourage and impede any attempts to profit off of the material by a 3rd party, especially in a dishonest, manipulative, and illbegotten way.

Companies benefit from copyright law far more than lone individuals do (professional or not), as there is almost always one to carry the torch when the ownership of the material changes hands. Though, fortunately, 2 life terms are enough to make most people lose interest in using the material for a profit and leave the material alone (which is what most owners want if they haven't surrendered the copyrights to anyone else and have no intention to.)

At any rate, this is a welcome thread, and we should veer it back in that direction. 🙂
