I cannot believe that fans of the NFL, are behaving the way they are. They are ruining the sport completly! That what I think....🙂

What are your thoughts??

My Thoughts?

I would say Americans do not have the first clue about bad behaviour at football games. Give us a break mate ,there are some things which we Brits can beat you at quiet easily!

Well

Yet another offensive remark by the offensive red indian. I find it hard to believe that you continue to show immaturity through remarks like these. If you are any indication of how people are in england, I am glad I have never been there. This is a "Flame Free" board, so I would reccomend that you stop your "English Comedy" remarks about America. I think that "English Comedy" crap is just another excuse to be a smart ass. Just a thought.....

Emergency! Emergency!

catastrophic sense of humour failiure! get scotty in the engine room now!

Girls behave yourselves....
Now getting back to the topic...what is up with the fans of the NFL?😕 😎

Well

Once Again, This Is A "Flame Free" Board TIL.....

Ok

Let me clear this up before it starts a big discussion (which I know it would)........I know that it was a joke red. I just DO NOT like people talking about my homeland, it is immature and uncalled for. I have nothing against you, I just do not like the fact that you continue to make remarks like this.......especially after the events of 9/11......it is not a very good time to "joke" about America. I also want to clarify that I have nothing against England, and hope to maybe go there one day.........As for the NFL fans, what can we say?? If a ref makes a bad call, im gonna let him know!!!!

BTW: How could I have anything against the country that brought us The Beatles!!! 😎

Also

I think I have the answer to the NFL question. I was watching "The O'Reilly Factor" and I heard a considerable answer. The events of 9/11 have caused alot of pain, and a HUGE amount of anger among all Americans. I think that ever since that day, we have had trouble dealing with our anger, probably due to the fact that ever since then, some of us have felt helpless. I think it is a possibility that this anger caused the lash-out at the games.......we wanted to lash out at the terrorist's but couldn't........just a theory.......😎

Face it...the more extreme your reactions(especially violent), the more likely you are to get attention paid.Officiating in the NFL has been horrendous for a long time and seems to be getting worse as time goes on.Sooner or later, the last straw will be reached,or has been,
and maybe now the league will start to take this problem seriously.
It's just too bad it might have had to come to this.
The fans pay a pretty penny to see a game played within the parameters
of certain rules, and part of the cost is paying these idiots to enforce and interpret them. While this behavior is not to be condoned,
it was only a matter of time before it happened.

I think that the incident at New Orleans on Monday night was just a way for a few isolated jack-asses to make an impact on TV on the heels of the Cleveland incident. There was no bad call in N.O. and everyone knew it. It was frustration. If you add alcohol to the mix of your hometeam trying to make a comeback and then having a call get in the way...things can happen.

In defense of the NFL, however, how often do you actually see this happen? Out of all the games you watch, 99% go off with nothing more than the obligatory "bullshit" chant at a bad call. Overall, I think that NFL fans support their passion with maturity.

Baseball could take a lesson from the NFL and install a salary cap and revenue sharing, plus a more open free-agency policy. Parity in MLB is a joke. Who's going to go to the World Series against Steinbrenner's checkbook this year?

And as far as giving back to the community, no sport comes close to the NFL. Players often spend their one day off volunteering for one cause or another, and the NFL is one of the biggest contributors to the United Way in the world.

As far as I'm concerned, football is really America's Game. Baseball confuses me with this title...it's really an American game played in Canada by a lot of Dominicans.😀

These isolated incidents don't reflect the true fan, and will soon be forgotten.

Just saw the thread

I thought Red Indian's response to TIS's statement was not only funny, but right on. America's fan incidents are (thank G-d) rather tame compared to the vicious soccer hooligans of Europe. Krokus -- I'm surprised that you'd take offense to the suggestion that America's fans *aren't* the biggest idiots in the world.

I've also got to take issue (I can't help myself) with "The O'Reilly Factor", mentioned above. Come on -- a "No Spin Zone"?! No offense, Krokus, but that show is among the absolute worst when it comes to dissemination of misinformation, if not outright political demagoguery. O'Reilly ought to be ashamed of himself for bringing down America's political discourse on a daily basis. Of course, he's simply a part of Fox News Network, which should be seen for what it is: the Republican's backlash against ABC, CBS and NBC.

I thought indian's remarks were funny, and I was thinking the same thing as he was about how soccer fans are way more hardcore than NFL fans....

and as far as ruining the NFL, it has been ruined for a long time.... it is ruined by lack of team loyalty to a city, team color, or even team logo, it is ruined by selfish players, that bitch because their team can't pay the 7 million this year, only 6.8 million, so they change teams, it is ruined by anti celebration rules, and rules that make everyone treat the quarterback like a class 1 wimp, it is ruined by bad officiation, and now finally it is being ruined by the fans too... glad we finally can get in on it.....

I love football almost more than anything, but since I came to college and started watching college football, I can barely care about the NFL any more, in fact, I have to play fantasy football just to seem interested. I do cheer for my teams, and I do whatch the games, but they have got to do something to fix the horrible horrible mess that has been made of the NFL.

just my 2 cents, and for any of you NFL fans out there that doubt me, just take a weekend and go to a Georgia bulldogs game in athens, then drive up the street and hit a falcons game on sunday.....or hit a Florida gators home game and then drive to jacksonville for a (probably not sold out) jaguars game... you will see the difference in intensity.

Thank god for good old MN!

My "joke" was (as MN has correctly divined) about the appalling behaviour of BRITISH football fans i.e. my own countrymen, therefore it was a joke at my expence and quite clearly not intended as an insult to U.S. sports fans.

My support for the U.S. post 9/11 is well documented elsewhere on this site and British forces are already sustaining fatal casualties in support of the U.S.

No one in the U.K. Needs any reminders about the evils of terrorist atrocities, we have been bearing the burden for 30 years thanks to the I.R.A. and their fund raising activities in the U.S.

I cant stand the beatles.

wait....

you mean you aren't a member of the beatles? I thought you were red indian......well this changes everything!

Personally,I never thought of red indian's comment as an insult, but maybe i watched too much monty python in the past lol.

As for the O'Reilly factor being a Republican backlash,I guess that depends on one's take of it.In my case, even if that's true,it's about time we got more than the typical left wing bias in the US media.

Fox News

Shark-

I don't consider "O'Reilly Factor" to be a Republican backlash (at least no more than any pseudo-news program on Fox). O'Reilly is just an ill-informed buffoon. It's amusing that his catch-phrase is "No Spin Zone" -- when all the show does is present slanted views of politics and other issues.

I do consider Fox "News" to be a Republican Backlash, though. Brit Hume? Tony Snow? They are nothing more than glorified lap dogs for the GOP.

Can we try to stay on topic....🙂

New York just announced that they will stop selling drinks in bottles! :wow: :sowrong:

What?

You dont like the factor, MN Tikl??? Well.....lemme guess, your a democrat.......or a bleeding heart liberal......

Also

Red Indian, I understood your post completely......Im not just talking about this post, im talking about many of yours that I have read and saw offensive. I will admit that I am VERY easily offended.....and I am sorry for accusing you of something that you have not done. I guess I need to lighten up a bit. 😎

Krokus-

Actually, I just prefer that talk show hosts who *purport* to discuss politics (and other issues) have some idea of what the hell they are talking about. O'Reilly rarely does.

But your accusation does raise an interesting issue --you believe that the reason I dislike O'Reilly is because I'm liberal. Is that because he's carrying the water for conservatives? You seem to believe so. I guess what you're really saying is that O'Reilly is just another conservative shill. I agree with you. Thank you for proving my point for me.

And for your information, I *enjoy* listening to Rush Limbaugh -- he can be absolutely hilarious (in the proper dosage). I basically listen to him and Howard Stern for the same reason -- to challenge my view of reality and laugh at the assinine things they both say and do.

but if you want some really interesting and entertaining talk radio....try listening to "the savage nation"......whooooo whheee...that guy is something.

Yes

I am a republican....and I am a conservative......I meant no offense with my earlier remarks, so dont piss yourself. I do also think that O'Reilly leans toward republicans.....and conservatives......he is not without fault, I just happen to agree with him most of the time. I find it amusing as hell to see that you reacted so seriously. So there it is, my opinion......but let us not get into politics, let us talk about the subject at hand. WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE NFL!?!? 😀

If any of you are ever in central or south western Florida, you have to listen to "the Monsters of the Miday". It's 5 rednecks, a midget, and a cuban, all talking about whatever is on their minds. It is hilarious and completely non-political. ALL political talk show hosts think that they are right and anyone who disagrees with them are idiots.

Slappy-

I listen to Savage Nation in the mornings -- he is pretty funny. His Brooklyn accent is particularly amusing to hear on Minnesota radio.

Krokus-

Sorry about the defensive reaction. I'll try not to piss myself anymore about it. I guess this past election cycle left some sore spots. You're right, I do lean liberal. But don't worry -- I'm not the commie-druggie-Godless-pro-abortion-welfare recipient liberal that many conservatives like to set up as their boogie-man. Like most people, I'm fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

Lemme tell you, turning on talk radio (and just about anything on Fox) and hearing liberals being accused of 'treason' and staging a 'coup d'etat' to overturn an election *does* have a rather ... polarizing effect.

But enough of politics. Don't even get me STARTED on the NFL - the Vikings STINK!!! They are a DISGRACE!!!
