It has come to my attention that certain members of this community have the brains of a chimpanzee.

Over the past few weeks I have been receiving IMs from people who are obviously lacking in any basic intelligence and it is really grating on me. I was not originally comfortable with leaving my IM adresses on the TT but after I became friends with such friendly and easy going people as LonelyKimiko and *Isamu* (amongst others) I have felt comfortable to leave my IM here.

However I do not find it comfortable when people IM me and instantly ask such things as "ASL", "OMG LYK CAN I SNIFF YOUR TOES" or among others "U GOT ANY CLIPS MATE" seriously people, is tickling ALL that you think about 24/7.

Now you can call me a snob but i personally think that it is good manners to wait at least two or three convos (or depending on how comfortable the person is with you, how long it takes you to get to know them) before you start talking about tickling, where your ticklish, where you like to tickle people etc etc and especially before you start RPing with people.

Now I am sure many of you here are not like these individuals as I have seen that there are many intelligent and well mannered people here at TT but I want to stress that if you are incapable of talking to people like they are human beings then DO NOT contact me.

I dont mind anyone else contacting me (Male or female, though i will stress I am straight so I dont mind talking with guys at all but i will not tolerate them trying to RP with me ESPECIALLY five seconds after talking to me. Sorry lads 😉) so please just respect me as I respect you.

I thank you all for your time and patience, I just needed to let that be said so that I and other people do not get messaged by imbeciles.

I hear ya Magician. Disrespect as caused me to take down my AIM, YIM, and MSN SNs from TT. I have adopted the theory of PM me if you want to chat with me via IM, unless you already have my SNs.

Hey Magician I completely understand where you are coming from--it's happened to me quite a few times so thats why i don't include my addresses.And even then there's no escape so I end up swapping and changing which IM service I use or just appear offline all the time.

I know it's been posted here in the past that members were being harassed like that and I could name a couple real cuties that have either stopped posting or left all together because of it. People should really wait for an invite for something like that.

I totally agree. There is a reason I don't post my IM information and why I have all 3 messengers set to not allow IMs from people I don't know. This is exactly it.
NOTHING is more irritating than getting IMbombed by some retard who can't spell, can't use any sort of punctuation, and just wants something to wank to.

I must not be a very likeable person, because I rarely get random IMs. Okay, I'm sure that isn't the reason. But really, I don't get them very often. Which is a shame, because I actually like getting random IMs from genuine people. I'm pretty easy going about it, too. I don't mind if people ask ASL, and I don't mind if people jump right into talking about tickling.

I have, however, gotten a few from males who are hoping to talk to another female about tickling and are disappointed to find out that I am male just like they are. Do people not look at profiles? I mean, my gender is stated pretty clearly in my profile. Why didn't they just look there. This isn't the only place where stuff like that happens, either. I'll go to the Yahoo chatrooms only to be IMed by females (usually young ones...like 16 and younger) who hit me up for a picture. Then, when I tell them there is a picture of me in my profile, they either stop talking to me or say something like "HOW DO I GET THERE?" or "IT NOT COMIN UP!" One time, a guy who apparently had not gotten the idea that I belonged to the same gender that he did asked me for a pic, and I gave him the standard "it's in my profile" reply. He didn't respond, and eventually I signed off, thinking that he had lost interest in me or whatever. I was wrong. I signed back on a few hours later only to get another IM from him that said, "Have you gotten around to sending me that pic yet? *tongue-sticking-out emoticon*"

I guess my point is that I like talking to peope who contact me out of the blue. I mean, I'm flattered that some stranger is interested enough in me to want to get in touch. I guess I just don't like it when people are flat out rude or incompetent about it.

though, i leave my IM up, and if someone does that to me, i just block them.

I've had the same problem...I think I even made a thread about it...

I recently took down my IM information and leave my IM on invisible so no one knows I'm on as I've received, since I became a member here way back when, an onslaught of rude, obscene, and downright ignorant messages from members of this forum on the same lines as you...only no one asked me for clips, most asked personal things about my tastes and where I'm ticklish, and how my female ler tickles me, etc...

So I completely feel your pain...and if you ever want to chat with a (relatively) sane female, drop me a PM and we'll swap screennames...

Hope the rubbish stops...

yeah, I have been asked for clips by people here on TT. I tell them that all my clips that I have come from here. HONESTLY, if I had clips that i got elsewhere i would have posted them here on TT unless someone else posted the same clip.

I've had this problem in the past, but not for the same reasons. When you're an artist who does/did free art requests, and people know it, sometimes the results don't work well together.

Yeah I have had the "got any clips mate" one too. A few others aswell, mainly since I started posting clips that I make.
I simply respond saying, "don't you think it would have been better to introduce yourself first" they inevitably then reply telling me something about themselves, but I don't reply.

But overall the people I have met through here have been real cool.

I've noticed it too. I've had so many jerks ask me things that were totally out of line on the first conversation. I've even had some guy ask me if I was hot and when I said no he stopped speaking to me. And besides that, I have even worse stuff happening. I'm grossed out by it.

There's an old addage which everyone knows or should know and that is "you only get one chance to make a good first impression". It's the same thing for a new job (as I have begun), a first date, your first encounter with your girlfriend's/fiancee's parents, etc. It is a shame to hear about people taking down their IM addys because of certain people who don't seem to know this golden rule but all too understandable. To Magician, Camel, Ness, Vlad, F.L., everyone that has had this occur and have taken down their IM addys as a result, I absolutely agree with your decision. 🙂 Myself personally, while this has not occurred very often, I have taken a stance much like BigNorm. If they add me, I'll add them and talk to them. If I find that they act without respect or a shred of intelligence then I would block them outright in a flash. The way I see it, like you said Magician I believe, is that the good, intelligent, respectful people far outweigh the opposite. I keep my IM addy here in the hopes of talking, off the TT, with members of this majority.
