Obama has the Nomination!!!!

If you read it again, I never said he was great. Nor did I say I was retarded and wanted any of those things. I didn't even say I liked McCain. But regardless of what I like, we get two choices this fall. One or the other.

[And what does his age have to do with anything? At all?]

The president doesn't run the country, the Senate does. The president is the guy in front of the camera. So if you want to complain about gas, it's not the president. That's like getting mad at the guy in the truck when your cable quits working.

Right now the US standing in the world has changed and slipped. Obama doesn't have one second of experience with foreign affairs. Neither did W and look how that worked. I'll take a guy with experience over the young guy with empty promises. He can't lower gas prices. He can't even authorize drilling our own oil in our own territories. And honestly, I don't like the prices, but Europeans pay almost twice what we do. So until it hits $8, I'll consider myself ahead of the game.

I don't hate Obama. I personally just don't think he's ready. Hillary was better prepared, but still not my choice.

what does that have to do with anything, thats nothing more than an empty opinion. experience? are you kidding? that guy supported every major foreign policy nightmare since ww2. not to mention he is awful on almost every single other issue. here so called "experience" is a bad bad bad thing.

Uh-huh.

"That"? What does "that" have to do...? What does what have to do with it? That's about as specific as Obama. And I wasn't aware that McCain has been part of the governing body for the last 65+ years. WWII? More like WTF.

So you responded to an empty opinion with an empty opinion. Everyone's entitled. And I suspect our empty opinions will carry the same exact weight at the polls.

what does the fact that you believe he has "experience" have to do with anything? especially if after all that so called "experience" he still maintains idiotic policies. thats actually not a good thing, but a bad thing.

and yes McCain has been a senator for some time and has supported, by law or ideology, some of the worst foreign policy ideas in history.

Quoting Obama from CNN:

Obama also blasted McCain, the presumptive GOP presidential candidate, for his recent silence on energy reform and his support for a gas tax holiday.

"He isn't offering any solutions to help Americans pay for high gas prices. Instead, he's proposing a gas tax holiday that's nothing more than a Washington stunt," Obama said. "I was for the idea back then, but I've learned from my mistake, because I don't think it's right to say you're offering families relief when you're just boosting oil company profits."

Obama says McCain's gas tax plan would "actually do real harm" and take "$3 billion a month out of the highway trust fund and hand it over to the oil companies."

Apparently you can be thoroughly in support of something [from such a horrible old man] and then go 180˚ the opposite direction when it looks unpopular and still get support from some people.

The title of his next book will be "Barack Obama: Oops... My Bad".

There are plenty of things not to like about Obama, but I'm mystified about what could possibly be seen as objectionable here. After eight years of an administration that refused to acknowledge its many errors, it's a welcome blast of integrity to hear a politician admit that he made a mistake. Not to mention that he's right--the gas tax holiday was a boneheaded idea then and it's a boneheaded idea now.

The very fact that it's even possible to envision Obama saying "Oops, my bad"--something so few people in public service are willing to do--is nearly enough to make me vote for him.

So if George W stepped forward and said "Maybe I was a bit hasty in the Middle East. Looking back, I should've held out for better intel..." Then what? He'd be forgiven?

Once the horse is out of the barn, or you put the pen in the wrong person's hand... too late. If Obama played out to be a big mistake and pulled multibillion dollar boners like W, I would hope he'd catch the same shit. He wouldn't, but he should.

I just think it's way easier for him to have "misspoken" now before he's elected. We'll see if it's still as admirable another trillion dollars in debt.

Then he'd have character, that's all. It wouldn't undo his previous mistake. But it might be suggestive of a person who's capable of learning and therefore who is less likely to make the next mistake.
