I kind of doubt that the boy really exercised all that much choice in the school he attends. Certainly, he didn't have any legal choice in the matter - he attends where his parents decide he attends.No, the school has certain things it considers to be immoral. Students
are expected to refrain from those activities both inside and outside the
classroom. I'm willing to bet that it says so in the contract the kid signed.
Private school, especially private Baptist school, is very different from the
public school system.
I think though that the point of the story is more about the kind and degree of control that a conservative religious school chooses to exercise over their students. Let it serve as a warning to other parents and students.
