It's a drawing by the way, not a photograph (I wish). And they're on a boat of some kind. It's very old, as you can tell from what the people in the ad are wearing and the dad as he's tickling his teen daughter's foot has a pipe in his mouth. But it's floating around the internet somewhere. Thanks.

Boy, that is old! 😛

That reminds me of how back in the 60's, in Marvels comics, all the older good guys smoked pipes in their civilian identities: Reed Richards, Hank Pym, Bruce Banner, Don Blake, Charles Xavier, even Tony Stark on occassion. I think they all secretly belonged to some pipe club or something.

Were pipes really that widely in use back then?

Of course, under Joe Quesada, smoking is banned in all Marvel Comics. Just to recap: Deals with the devil, good. Smoking, bad.

I wasn't around that far back, but in the early 70's, I smoked a pipe! It smelled a lot nicer than nasty cigarette smoke. I used a nice black cherry tobacco. Gave them up after a few years.
