I enjoy thinking... just thinking, sometimes for hours on end. I ponder potential storylines for future novels, games, movies, or other endeavors I fantasize about someday undertaking. I've also pondered such areas as replacements for the US educational system, the US welfare system, and so forth (that without the benefits of instruction in law or politics, mind, so my ideas in all likelihood wouldn't work out at all). I also spend far too much time thinking about the nature and basis of the universe, the miracle of creation, and the meaning of life -- which I need to stop, as I'm starting to hear voices telling me things. Not a good sign 😉
Less lethargically, I enjoy role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, and Traveller. I enjoy writing, both for RPGs (I've had some small commercial publication in that area) and in the area of short fiction and novels (less luck, there). I used to write poetry and, as it had a somewhat enthusiastic reception, I've tried to get back into it lately. I play video- and computer games, typically RPGs, real-time strategy, first-person shooters (I suck at these, but I'd like to be better) and puzzle games (I would fuck the circle in the center of my MYST disc if it was a little bit bigger and I had an extra CD).
I argue on the internet. This constitutes the major workout for my day.
I've become somewhat active in local political discourse and activism. I've written various government representatives, for instance, over the current situation in Wayne County, OH where the public libraries are concerned, and I've actually gotten positive responses from people who don't have some other incentive or personal connection that leaves them feeling obligated to like me.
I research small business law and management practices, as I would like to open my own gaming hobby store.
I enjoy amateur astronomy and stargazing, and consider myself somewhat knowledgeable in that area, although not as much as I might once have been when I had more time and money to dedicate to the hobby.
I enjoy history and the study and re-enactment thereof. I am a member of the SCA and a sporadic American Civil War and WWII re-enactor, where I'm somewhat known for taking the eventual losing side in the war being portrayed (they never have enough people; everyone wants to be a winner).
I enjoy lasertag, paintball, nerf- and water-gun fighting, and other forms of mock firearms combat.
I enjoy martial arts study, and weapons collecting -- particularly knives and swords, with firearms being secondary. I like the look of them, and the feeling that comes with carrying them -- though I don't often do so, for various obvious reasons.
I'm fascinated by mythology and its role in cultural development and wellness. I have a particular interest in those myths which are dark and negative, as well as being worldwide; dragons, for example, as well as vampires, about which every known culture has some sort of eerily similar variant legend (there are isolated South American tribes with legends about re-animate corpses who suck blood or milk to survive and can transform into animals).
And, um... I'm a foot guy, though it's mostly related to tickling. I mean, that's where I want to wind up sooner or later.
