i have "faked it". and no it's no harder for a man than a woman.
why? because my partners were worn out, and couldn't keep going, so i would do the gentelmenly thing, and fake it. as myriads said, it's all a mind thing.
to me that's a far cry than when women fake it.

The reason that this causes surprise among the male readers is this experience, which I believe to be common among boys past puberty and adult men:

If I have no conscious orgasm for a given period of time, neither via contact with another person nor via masturbation, then I will have a wet dream. That is, an orgasm while asleep. It leaves a wet spot on the bed and/or whatever garments you sleep in.

When I was 19, the "given period of time" was about two days. Now that I am a woefully middle-aged person, it is about a week.

If you truly have never had a conscious orgasm, and also never had one while you slept, then you should see a physician about it. I am being serious, it is not typical, and you should try to find out why.
