One World Government - ahhhh!

So, anyone want to bat around the idea (not mine, it's been done to death in movies/books)that the future World Government will actually be a mega sized corporation, run along the same principles that currently plague us? Hope not, but it seems the easiest route to a unified world governing body...unless we get lucky and get invaded from a different solar system, thus unifying all mankind in a war for survival (also not original).. "lucky" just isn't what it used to be, hmmm? 😉 Q

Umm theres NOTHING WRONG with tribalism..........Any government thats constantly at war would be a bad gov't! Plus who gave them the guns huh?? and uh the Europeans DID divide Africa among themselves. Havent you noticed that any country that was once under colonial rule is kinda fucked up. yeah, let's look at all the good points of tribalism. despotism at it's finest; piss off the king, and into the stew pot you go; nepotism running rampant; the king (or member of the court) likes your wife, or daughter (or son) and they take them away, (you argue see rule 2) how about all the modern conviences?! hot, and cold mud streets; dig a pit to take a dump in;

and yes, american indians did eat some portions of their enemies. not all tribes, and not as a main meal. it was a ritual/religous practice, to gain some attribute of their fallen enemy.

The US saved your ass in both world war's and now you're criticizing the US involvement in Vietnam. Why not just question the US involvement in all wars? Hell we should have just gone back to old school isolationism after McKinley's term and Europe would have been a big Germany after WWI and none of the horrors of Vietnam would have occurred. Also the Versailles Treaty ring a bell? Britain, France, and Italy basically invited a tyrannical leader like Hitler to step into Germany. Yet again, we bailed you out.

What is this "we" and "you" nonsense? Kyle, did you do something nice for red indian? Or perhaps you fought on the beaches of Normandy. If not, your tone is inappropriate. Please try to add something to this debate than the kind of stuff drunks shout at each other when they are fighting in a bar.

And that goes for everyone on this thread. If you want to cite reference or at least name some of the tribes you're talking about, rather than speaking in these sweeping generalizations, you will be making a much stronger case for your opinion than the kind of "oh yeah? well you're wrong" posts happening here.

If this thread cannot proceed in a civilized manner, I will be happy to close it.

Who said you needed to provide chapter and verse evidence to put forth an opinion or provide information?If posters were required provide incontrovertible evidence in a post each and every time,many of these posts...including some from moderators...would have to be deleted.
As far as the civilized manner,somebody should be taking a look at ALL the threads,as there have been numerous posts that were, and are,
"uncivilized",including some from moderators.

Why? It's cost to the community of the forum has become more then the value that it adds.

We try and use a few standards for posts here. We ask people to support their opinions with facts, when those opinions touch on non-subjective things. We ask people to not insult others. We ask people to not make blanket statements about groups.

Yet time and again we are faced with modding threads that break all the above and more. Especially here in General Discussion where I let things be a bit looser then the rest of the forum. I feel that a lot of these topics deserve extra space to be talked over in. But they often drift into argument (distinctly different from the disccusion that I wish to cultivate) So it goes...

This one has drifted too far. So I'm tossing it the anchor of a lock.

And folks, remember this is a tickling forum. 🙂 Yelling at each other over this type of stuff here is silly. Like going to Paris to have a Big Mac.
