Orange Barrel Sighting

I am a road construction worker. I just answered that on the,"where do you work" thread. Since I am a road construction worker I am curious to your opinions and comments about all those road delays and miles and miles of orange barrels. Now is your chance. I am currently laid off till April when the season starts again so i will have time to read ALL your writings. PLEASE BE GENTLE. I only work behind them I don't loive with them. here in jacksonville, florida, we have the "Better Jacksonville Plan" underway, that for a 2 cent increase in sales taxes, there are many, many mojar roads being widened, rebuilt, and such. jacksonville is the largest city landwise in the nation, so when i say you can't throw a stone without hitting a construction site, you catch my drift. we need all this construction work badly, they even put a rush on it before superbowl season, but the construction made the superbowl traffic even worse. all in all, it's something of large importance, just we have to put up with it all for a long time. they whole massive project will take about 10 years to finish, and we ain't even half way done.

bottom line, i don't mind, since it will be VERY rewarding in the future.

When I see people actually working on those projects, I'm grateful for their effort. The only time it annoys me is when I pass a construction site day after day but never see any workers doing anything; sometimes I wonder if they finished but forgot to take down the barriers.

What I admired in the latest construction works was that the workers put up notices a week before they begun. They were going to work on the part of the road where the train goes through the road. (SORRY! I forgot what those are called! 😱). So, they avoided huge traffics, and finished the work in less that 3 days. :happy:

The barrells never reallyannoyed me since my Uncle was a road foreman for the city. I figured out a game with them. The idea is to hit as many as you can, but not on purpose. The record so far is 7 held by yours truely. 😀 As for being gentle on osco? I'd rather put up with construction anyday of the week instead of trying to have a conversation with someone, and have one word of your sentence sound like it has 75 syllables to it because of all the potholes ya hit.
