ATLANTA -- According to several media reports, Patsy Ramsey, mother of slain child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, died Saturday of ovarian cancer. She was 49.
According to The Associated Press, a Colorado television station reported that Ramsey died in Atlanta. It quoted her lawyer, L. Lin Wood.
CNN also confirmed Ramsey's death.
Wood did not return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment. However, Wood did speak to CNN and said that Ramsey died at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday after struggling to battle a recurrence of the cancer.

Ramsey had been battling the latest recurrence of the disease for three years, Wood told CNN. He said that she was originally diagnosed in 1993.
"She should be remembered for being an incredibly loving mother, a wonderful wife and a person who showed great courage in fighting a vicious disease," Wood said.
Ramsey and her husband, John, moved to Atlanta following intense media scrutiny surrounding the death of their 6-year-old daughter. The child beauty queen was found beaten and strangled to death in the basement of the family's Boulder, Colo., home on Dec. 26, 1996.
After leaving the Denver area, the couple maintained residences in both Atlanta and Michigan, where John Ramsey unsuccessfully ran for office.
The Ramseys were originally the subject of the Boulder Police Department's criminal investigation into their daughter's death. An independent polygraph test eventually cleared them of wrongdoing in the case, but speculation and media attention remained.
A Colorado grand jury investigation ended with no indicments, and no arrests were made in connection with JonBenet Ramsey's death.
The case remains unsolved.

A real case of trial by media. I remember watching a program about this a while ago that described in great detail the investigation and it really was a case of the police cocking up the entire thing. They even had a prime suspect who was a convicted pedophile with a history of violence who lived next door and went on the run the day after the killing. And nobody even thought to investigate him!

Wow..I didn't know they lived next to a convicted pedophile with a history of violence...sounds fishy that he ran off the day after the killing...he might have done it..but we might never know.

It's amazing what you can find out when you ignore what the news tells you. 😀
CrimeLibrary.com has a long article about it, (but it's more sided towards pointing out the media witch hunt than anything else). I guess if you look it up, you'll find all sorts of info about it.

I'll try and find that. I'm pretty sure I have a book knocking about somewhere that goes into it too. Apparently there was a whole pedophilia ring in the region. Nobody knows if they were involved, but it shows that Boulder isn't as safe as it was assumed.

Only she prosituted the poor kid in the hooker contests - oh, sorry, "Beauty Pagents" - where she dressed a 5 year old like a 50 year old street walker and taught her to shake her butt at a bunch of pedophiles for their enjoyment. And when that didn't get Patsy enough attention via her daughter, she killed her and milked it for all it's worth.
After all her paint brushes were found in Jon Bennet's vagina. Her handiwipes were used to clean the body. No semen was found. Just residue from the handiwipes.
She did it and the police either were paid by the husband or messed up badly.

Just false evidence that was leaked to the press. I don't agree with the beauty pageants (they're sick) but it's the main reason so many people just asume the parents are guilty. Do all the parents of the other contestants abuse their kids?
