Ok guys, with a quarter of the season under our belts who do you think is going to the Super Bowl? Early season picks are a bitch, so this should searate the men from the boys and women from the girls...

Make your picks here and I'll save this thread until the end of the season and see if anyone actually hits it.

So here's how it goes, pick two teams from the AFC and two from the NFC, the teams you think will play in thier respective championship games. Then pick the two you thibnk will play in the Super Bowl. Like I said, early season picks are hard...injuries, schedule, choking...all these things could make your 4-0 team miss the playoffs or your 1-3 team actually make the Super Bowl.

Here's mine to start things off:

I'd love to pick the teams I like, but I know I have to go with the ones that have the best shot even if they lose a key atarter or two. Also, you gotta count coaching, strength of schedule and all of those other X Factors. I'm gonna say....

AFC Championship game: Baltimore vs. New England

NFC Championship Game: Seattle vs. Atlanta

Super Bowl: Baltimore vs. Seattle

Yeah, I know....but those are my picks. Believe me, I'd love to pick Cincy, New Orleans, Chicago, Indy...but you gotta look ahead. I love Cincy (and they could make the championship game), but I don't think thier run defense is going to hold up. Indy chokes in the playoffs, that's what they do. The Bears are going to come down to Earth, but I almost picked them to go to the big game as well. I just think the better teams are going to expose thier offensive chinks. New Orleans looks good, and I will go out on a limb and predict they will make the playoffs, but lack of experience will make them a next-year team.

I just think New England is getting it all together, and injuries have never bothered them. Plus, they've still got the "destiny" thing going, trying to match Pittsburgh's "4 in 6 years". They may not be the defending champs, but they are the league's reigning dynasty. As long as you've got Brady, you've got a shot. Plus, they've got a phenomenal rookie running back to compliment Corey Dillon. Seattle hasn't skipped a beat and they have more experience than last year...plus Deion Branch. Baltimore is more of a gut feeling/destiny sort of thing. The defense is awesome, and McNair looks more comfortable and better than he has in years. They've got the one defense that I think can give Tom Brady nightmares. Pretty much the same with Atlanta. Without a cavalcade of stars (besides Vick), they've got a lot of firepower and a quiet but surprising defense.

That all being said, I'll probably kick myself for these picks later, but who wants to jump on a bandwagon now, eh? :triangle: It's easy to pick the teams you want to go, but this is who I think will.

Post now and we'll revisit this in February!

AFC Championship: Pittsburgh vs. Jacksonville

NFC Championship: Philadelphia vs. Chicago

Super Bowl: Pittsburgh defeats Chicago

AFC Championship: Colts over Chargers

NFC Championship: Cowboys over Bears

Super Bowl: America's Team over Colts

You said this last year and your prediction and your team went down in flames BEFORE the playoffs. Why don't you give us a unbiase prediction. And please spare us of the Cowgirls. Want a real prediction???

Chicago Bears vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chicago Bears to be the Super Bowl Champions. Now that is an unbiase pick. :smilestar

I guess it's very easy to make an unbiased pick when you know your team won't play past December. Last year the 'boys were a few missed filed goals away from going 11-5 or 12-4. Now they've added other key players that go beyond T.O. I don't understand why someone can't pick their team w/o it being a biased pick.

DA BEARS to win it all. Doesn't matter who it's against!

Well, I have to agree with fiend on this. I pick the Steelers no matter what because that's my team and I believe in them even if they keep losing. Nothing wrong with being biased towards your favorite team when making picks. It may not always be wise, but a show of faith shows you're a true fan.

Um...not to say that if you pick anyone other than your team means you're not. Some people use their heads and others use their hearts. That's all.

STEELERS TAKE IT ALL, BABY!!!!!

Wow, talk about going out on a limb lol

chicago bears because defense wins everything in every sport
and, as much as this hurts badly
the patriots, after watching them yesterday they are definitly the team to beat
bears and pats

Dallas Cowboys vs Indianapolis Colts Dallas winning

if not then

Chicago Bears vs Indianapolis Colts Chicago winning

if not that then

Chicago Bears vs Baltimore Ravens Chicago winning

People opinions will change every week. One week people like this team then a week later it's someone else. The Seahawks beat down the Giants and people where saying they were the best. The Bears whip them and now they're the favorite. Chicago eventually will get beat and people will tell us why they won't go to the Supe Bowl. I only sure about two things this year. One, that the Super Bowl champ will come from the NFC. The other is that it will be America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys.

My opinion will not change. I will stay with the two teams I picked. Just like I did a year ago. I got half right by picking the Steelers. I was wrong with my pick of Carolina though. But these things happen. By the way fiend, let it be known that over the last 6 years the Jets have played in January 3 times. While the Cowgirls have played in January only once in the last six years. So, in fact, your statement about the Jets not playing in January is wrong.

Well sometimes the regular season extends into January. But it doesn't matter if the Jets made it six times, they have nothing to show for it. No conference championships and that means no Super Bowls. And if you read the statement right then you would see that it has nothing to do with any other season. I was talking about this year and you know I'm right. The Jets won't be in the playoffs. Period.

Bias call: Green Bay Packers vs Tennessee Titans
GB wins 17-14

Unbias: Baltimore Ravens vs Atlanta Falcons
Always seems to be someone stepping up and jammin the Falcons to the top just when you think it's not gonna happen. And the Ravens, Jeez awesome defence, offence is getting there and for heavens sake QBing is Steve freakin McNair. This team is awesome.
Ravens beat the Falcons in the Bird Bowl er SuperBowl. 24-17

Ok guys, let's calm it down. I really don't have the time and/or will to go back and have to edit posts all night. We're all sports fans here and this is a friendly game of pick 'em, right?

Besides, Slacker's right. Some pick with thier heads, some with thier hearts, some with a combination of the two. There's no wrong way to pick. And let's please stop the name calling on each others' teams, cool?

Believe me, I had a hard time picking with my head and came this close to saying "screw it" and picking a Cincy/Minny Super Bowl. I mean shit...with the NFC the way it is, why not Minnesota, huh? I mean, they are the only team this year that's given the Bears a tough time, and let's be brutally honest...if not for one ill-timed fumble, the Vikes are undefeated and the Bears are 3-1. There's not a damn thing wrong with just picking your favorite teams. (And as far as Cincy goes, I'm still pulling for them all the way in the AFC, and I'll gladly accept a bad set of picks to see the Big Cats in the Super Bowl. I just get nervous about thier run defense, but that can always shore up as the season goes on. I mean, who would have predicted the Steelers awesome run last year?)

Everybody cool now? :triangle:

Its almost mid season so I'm a little late, but oh well. Here's my wildcard pick. Packers will win the superbowl this year. Because I wan't them to. And that's the only reason I can give. And Favre.

If not them, the Pats. No reason there either.

Fingers crossed that my boys in Indy dont, to quote Warden Norton in Shawshank, "up and vanish like a fart in the wind" again come playoffs :rotate:

If we could get the damn defense on the same page with the offense we'd have several bowl titles by now.

(The Colts are my pick, if you couldnt tell LOL)

Pats play chicago nov 26. tune in if you want to see the superbowl match up early. :bowing:
