Ross, Tim, and Tim's other partner discussed back and forth of the new company buy that Tim had proposed,
Ross wanted to do everything to cooperate with Tim, who was his best friend, and most important client, and source of income.
Yet, with all the time that Ross had devoted to the oil and gas in recent times, Ross felt, almost rusty, and out of sync, for someone that had once owned a major marketing company.
The day after Tim gave Ross the numbers on the potential company they were buying, Ross called Tim.
"Tim , you were right about this company taking a lot of work, and being in some financial difficulty. I'm almost, humiliated to say it, but, would you mind I gave this analysis to someone else I know in Marketing, an independent outside party, almost like getting a "second opinion " from a Doctor?" Ross asked.
"Of course not, my friend, but you have to make them aware of the time frame. " Tim reminded Ross.
"Oh, I definitely will, I will tell them 48 to 72 hours max. If you feel I'm still not ready, and you and your friend want to do it alone, by all means do what is best for you. I'm going to try my best to figure this out" Ross said.
"The man who was once the King of Marketing has been so busy learning the Oil and Gas business, that he forgets how to buy and turn around what used to be his speciality" Tim joked as he hung up the phone.
Ross was upset as the day went along. He piddled around in the office, and then went home at 6.
Kayley kissed him, and could see he was distracted.
"Another day in the trenches?" Kayley teased.
"Damn it, Kale. I feel like an idiot. What Tim gave me used to be my number one strong spot in business. Buy a company and turn it around and sell it. I've done it so many times. Yet, except for my regular work, I've been so obsessed with Oil and Gas, that I feel like a pitcher who has forgotten how to pitch" Ross said, with a frustrated tone to his voice.
"You are not an idiot. You are just being careful with this because Tim is involved and you are being cautious. My advice, give it to someone you trust to examine it, get their advice, either do it or dont, and then let it go" Kayley said.
The next morning, Ross gave the numbers to a friend of his.
"I have a job for you. Struggling company that Tim just gave me info on. I'm not comfortable with the situation , and I need your feedback and advice. I will pay you a huge amount of money, but I need this done in 48 to 72 hours, or it is all for naught" Ross said.
"I will have it back to you at the end of two days" Ross's friend said.
Luckily for Ross, his monthly work was finished. Each day, Fritz called him twice a day to probe him to come down.
"When is show time, buddy? We need you. I know you're buying a company, but we cant wait" Fritz said.
"I will be down there in two days even if I have to come at night. I must finish this project for Tim, it is urgent, because he knows when I come there, I wont be back for a few days" Ross said.
"Three days, buddy, or if these people sign, you are going to have to sit this one out" Fritz said.
"Understood, and I will be there" Ross said.
After two tense days, Ross heard from his friend.
"Very shaky buy, its honestly 50-50, but my gut says buy, try to turn it around, and if not take it as a tax write off" Ross friend said.
"Okay, thanks" Ross said/
Ross immediately called Tim.
"My friend said it is 50-50, and he cant give me his advice. His gut says buy, but there is no guarantee. I have to go to OKC as I've delayed Fritz for several days. Can we give it three days, I will go to OKC, do what I have to, and come back, and we can discuss it more, or does it have to be delayed"?" Ross asked.
"I might be able to stall, five days to a week. Get the Hell out of here tonight or tomorrow, three days max, then get back here ASAP and we will make a final decision" Tim said,
"Got it, and thanks" Ross said.
Ross raced out of the office., I"m going to OKC for 48 to 72 hours. I;'m not here except you all know who is important, tell them to get me on my cell phone" Ross said.
"Okay Ross, Good Luck" Vic said.
Ross raced home in an Uber, packed clothes, and ran into Kayley as she was coming in from school
"Leaving me for another woman?" Kayley joked.
"Hardly, you always say no other woman but you will put up with me. You know where I'm going., Three days max, oil show. I wish I did not have to , but I do" Ross said.
"Ross, stay calm. I know you're a bit hectic now, but just stay in your new self" Kayley said, kissing Ross goodbye.
Ross made a midnight flight to OKC, landing in OKC in the middle of the night.
Ross went to his hotel, caught a few hours sleep, and then met Fritz and Steve at the office, and prepared to go to the oil field with the investors.
Things were really going a thousand miles a minute.
What would happen with the oil and gas show to the investors, and the potential company buy for Ross and Tim?
That would be seen
