Playstation 3 or X-Box 360?

I'm a big fan of the side-scrolling mario games. I never really got the hang of 3D platformers T_T
I never got a gamecube, opting for a PS2 instead. I do have an N64...but the good ol' SNES is still my favorite of all the consoles I've had.

whats so hard about 3D? True, it does take some getting used to, but makes the games all the more challenging. :happy: I remember the countless hours of fun I've had with Super Mario 64....I would play it every day...collected all the stars too....:happy:...was very depressed when it ended. 😱

I just never got into it...really I probably never gave them much of a chance. All games now are 3D so you really can't avoid them. I'm good at driving, I'm good at pushing the katamari...but jumping around and fighintg...just cant do it T_T

no jumping or fighting, eh? WOW, that does limit some things, doesnt it? May I suggest Harry Potter games? I got the 3rd one, its pretty basic, gets a little challenging by the end. Would be a good way to practice. 😉 And heck, the 4th one just came out, though since I dont own that, I cant really tell you about it.

My opinion the new handhelds is that theres no real games for either of them. Most likely if i get a psp, i will be watching final fantasy advent children. The only game or games i might get for ds are castlvania and mario kart ds. I just dont see myself spending money for any of the handhelds.

I'm not sure how reliable this is but I also heard that Sony (xbox too I think) is taking a big loss with each system sold because they cost more to manufacture than what they're selling them for.

They are supposed to be losing 126 dollars per console... Don't know how much the PS3 will loose...
But thats really no surpise, PS2 actually left 500 million dollars in losses on it's first year, all consoles have to create a market before they can begin making profit, which mostly comes from licensing and once the production cost are lower due to mass production of the parts also from console selling

I read in the Washington Post that Sony will make PS3 between $400-$500 (most likely $500), because they want people to buy it only if they really want it. And they believe this'll work, because they used the same tactic on the PSP; and look at how many were sold! The thing is, I cant help but wonder if more people would have bought PSP's if it cost around $150, like the DS? 😛

Well, a good indicator would be that PSP has sold around 1.6 million units, while DS has sold around 3 million(sales chart in Japan)... I'm not saying ds is better or anything of the sort, just that maybe the pricing of a console is becoming one of the most important things people consider when they buy one... also, it must be said that PSP has recently been gaining a lot of ground

I dont know if a PSP/DS comparison can be made. Wasn't the DS out long before the PSP? Also...Nintendo has always completely owned the handheld market. It'd be really hard for someone else to jump in there.

Actually DS was released only three weeks earlier than PSP, this in Japan. In the US it was released about 3 and a half months earlier. And I repeat the sales I posted before are from japan only. Nintendo does have experiece on it's side and also a large amount of followers, so it is kind of expected for DS to outsell PSP, at least at first...

PSP should only be bought be real game lovers; I own one, have two games, (Mercury, and ATV), and I find more fun in mercury (being a mob of mercury and completing objectives like getting through this obstacle course if 60 seconds), than the ATV (run wild, race, crash😛), most likely because of the controls. Though it's resembled to the PS2, its really a lot harder. I admire the movies on it, though; thats sweet. 😉
