Prisoner beaten for being ticklish

It happened because prisoners, no matter what country they're in, have no effective protectable rights and are at the mercy of sadistic guards all the time. And yes, it's pretty hilarious, just like child abuse and world hunger. There but for the grace of God go all of you who think that kind of thing is funny. I wish I hadn't looked at this thread.

Thank you, Ryan. And I would say I hope nobody is amused by it either, because not everybody who goes to prison is guilty of anything, and not everybody who is out free is innocent of the things people go to prison for. Police brutality and prison-guard brutality aren't jokes.

I've been lurking around this thread for quite awhile and I.....just....can't....take it anymore!

On topic-I personally don't find anything funny at all about being beaten for being ticklish! If any of you get tickled intentionally or unintentionally, the response is the same, you're going to jump and squirm away. It's a natural reaction and NO ONE should be beaten for it and I don't think anyone should find such a thing funny! That's my personal opinion on the matter so if you're coming with hate-o-grams, fine by me! I guess I am just glad it didn't happen to me or any of you-then it definitely wouldn't be so funny then would it?

Off topic-when did this become an Americans vs Canadians thread? We both love our respective countries and we're both proud citizens of each one. Both countries have made many contributions in history, both good and bad--so what!! With all that I hate about government, I still believe the US is still one of the best places in the world to live. I'm sure our Canadians would agree that their country is the best for many good reasons. No winners or losers here so stop the mudslinging please!

Off topic: Why has not ONE American person here called method11236 on his attitude? I find it hard to believe that some of you are even taking the piss out of Ryan1986 for defending his country when it was an American who first came out with the racist attack.

It's because of people like method11236 that so many people in "the rest of the world" have a negative view of America, and when you don't condenm his actions it basically gives the impression that you think its fine because he's an American. Also I think that being able to laugh at something doesn't preclude being aware of its human, tragic side.

When did the stories reliability become a factor? This wasnt posted in the fictional stories section, it's posted under tickling discussion and is designed to be taken as true. From reading other peoples replies, and Ticklishgiggles responses, it looks like im nowhere near the only person "doesn't get it".

If you can confirm that this is some sort of urban legend, then by all means post it as such and have a good laugh. Until then maybe it would be best to hold back?

Some of us are just gifted at seeing the lighter side. It's prison, we're talking about, so a general ass-kicking is pretty mild compared to some of the victimization that goes on there.

Exactly which race was being discriminated against? All Method said was "They probably just beat the guy for being Canadian." I personally see nothing racist here. The worst that could be said was that Method suggested the guards doing the beating had Nationalist issues, but he neither condemns nor condones the attitude.

So not only does he state that every single living American is a dumb ass, he implies the rest of the world agrees with him, just as you obviously do. Seems to me, you have your own Nationalist issues, since you obviously find no fault with Ryan's statement that all Americans are dumb asses, and consider such a statement as "defending his country." I'm not suggesting that it's fake. It's funny in part because it's true. I'm saying that there's a huge difference between seeing a bloody body on the floor, and hearing a story told in a way that's deliberately designed to enhance its humorous elements. Whats funny here, since you really don't get it, is the contrast between something as harmless and innocent as a brief ticklish response and the insanely violent overreaction of getting a beating. Connecting things that appear to be opposite is one of the basic building blocks of humor. It's ironic that the guy got a beating for being ticklish, is what people are saying. And irony is humorous.
