Questions Regarding V4 Update:

When search is performed from main forum page/main sub-forum page the "replies and views" display in a vertical format. This limits the number of search results that can be viewed on the page returning the results. Is this problem being experienced by others? Simple solution?

Could you link me to a Search the brings up that kind of result?

just go back to the old way there was nothing wrong with it! theres a TON of material missing that should be there because the dates are all out of wack, and the advanced search was set and saved and im missing out on alot. there is a topic on tt open about how the new layout/theme here sux now. its going onto 2-3 pages now about how people dont like it including me.

What specifically are you missing out on? I haven't noticed any serious problems, and the mods are breaking their backs to try to make sure everyone is adjusting. Be specific with your issues so they can be addressed, instead of just general whining.

Or just stick to Tickle Theater. Either way is just fine with me.

What are you missing out on?

Please keep in mind that this thread is for addressing specific issues with the V4 format. -- I understand that it's a huge change from what many vets and even some newer folks are used to. And it's going to take a bit of time to get adjusted to.. aesthetically speaking. I'm sorry you're displeased w/it.

Search functioning has already been addressed as an issue & we're attempting to get it all wrapped up.

Also: I've been test-searching very basic keywords such as "socks" & "nylons" from the main page Search Bar and am pulling up results just fine.

So.. those of you who have been holding out on Searching things, it might be working for you now. 🙂

I seem to be a casualty of the upgrade.

My latest post shows me as a "TMF Novice" (which I am not), and my Posting Permissions have been altered
to show that I may NOT post new threads (which I have done).

In fact, a check will show that I am a Registered User, and have more than two dozen threads to my credit.

Please fix. (Perhaps other users are having similar problems.)

As CrystalLight said, you have a bit over 50 posts, so the title the forum gives you is novice. Titles are entirely due to post count; time registered and number of threads don't impact. Is there a specific forum where you are having issues posting new threads?

Anyone else having a problem linking images? I get error messages some times, but other times it is just fine.
What do you mean by errors? Can you give us an example image.

To all those having trouble with search, I reiterate that search is not very good in this version of vBulletin. We traded a search that broke consistently on some searches (running out of memory) to one that seems to break more randomly. I can only suggest to use the Google/Bing fix that I outlined in an earlier post. vBulletin will hopefully fix this problem sooner rather than later.

how do i embed a video in a post i have tryed to use the embed code and i also tryed using the link and clicking on add video and putting the link tthere and no luck thanks?

Make sure you Check the box that says "Use old Embed Code". Then just copy and paste like before.

Hi.
I cannot log in. I have forgotten my password, and when I try to use the lost password recovery form I keep getting "invalid URL request".

Drop me an e-mail at [email protected], and include your user ID (I'm assuming the problem is with a different account then the one you posted with above) and I'll reset the password for you.

Search function does not seem to work. I've tried searching "gag" in the post stories section like I used to, and nothing.

Move up the thread a bit and you'll see that several times we've mentioned that under the new version search is broken, and there is nothing we can do about it. It needs to be fixed by the coders of the board software, and has been a known issue to them for about a year, so it's not looking like a high priority on their to-do list.

Are we happy about this? No. But we had to upgrade because the security situation of the last build was in a downward spiral, and support for it was going to end also. So here we are.

On the bright side you don't need the search function to find things. Again, above if you look, you'll find a way to search the forum using google or bing. It works very well, and should hold until they finally fix things.

Log In (home page)

The new mods have worked ok for me to date, a little pale perhaps.

But today i was presented with a different log in page and have raised the question in the tech section.

Also the password and user id were on top of each other and not in a straight line.

It was on another computer and the home page contained three tickling pics like a sort of banner.

Some members in chat were debating problems about logging in and out of chat.

Could you please advise

You landed on the TMF's home page (http://www.ticklingforum.com) Which is different from the forums index page (http://www.ticklingforum.com/forum.php

To go from the home page to the index page just click the picture in the middle of the home page and you'll b eon the forum and can log in.

Your errors in viewing the page sound like some graphic artifacts that can happen with older java.

As for the Chat Room it's host has been a bit bumpy over the past week, so there have been more boots and hard entries then usual.

>>>>> Attachment Removal?

My collection of previously used attachments is becoming cluttered.

Is there any way I can remove unneeded attachments?

Thank you.

Righto. Thanks then.

As it turned out, one of the fixes for color broke the customizable background colors on profiles. It was a relatively minor fix (the white behind posts was slightly darkened) and I've removed it. Customized backgrounds should now work.

Search on vBulletin is bad. vBulletin knows this. Many, many angry users have told them this. They are supposedly working on it, but I've seen no sign of this. I just tried installing a commercial solution that another large vBulletin forum uses and have found that it works no better. I simply don't have a way to fix it until they do. The time and manpower is simply not here for us to create a fix on our own. Using Google or Bing is fortunately simple; all one has to do is go their and put site:www.ticklingforum.com before their search. Is it annoying to have to leave the site to search? Sure. But, at least there is an option. Believe you me, we don't like it any more than you do.
The big problem with this solution here, is that I tend to spend all my time on the stories section. But if I type the ticklingforum.com/whateverthefulllinkistostories it still searches within ticklingforum.com, NOT that specific section (which makes sense since the stories themselves won't have that full f=12 thing or whatever). So to say it causes annoyance is an... understatement lol.

I understand that you can't fix the problem, but why use vbulletin at all then? Surely there must be a better choice? And, any chance you can think of a different (better) workaround than the google one?

Yes there are other software platforms that provide forum services.

Changing would mean tossing out multi thousands of dollars of investment in this platform, AND spending multi thousands on the new one. It would involve reconfiguring the server to run the new platform. We would have to recreate all of our graphics and templates from the ground up for the new platform, we would not be able to take our database of old posts OR users over to the new platform, so we'd start with Zero users and Zero threads and posts.

All in all, our investment in this software platform is large, and not just in dollars.

To change would basically mean erasing the TMF, it's decade of history, and starting over.

We really are not up for that sort of loss.

Lost in Disneyland

Last night (Thursday, September 15), I posted a thread, called Disney Clips.

I subsequently confirmed that it had been properly posted, and that it was accessible.

This morning, I found that it had disappeared altogether! (No explanatory notification was received.)

At present (Friday evening), it is not listed under my threads, nor can it be found when searched for by name.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Two of the clips in that post violated the "no minors" rule. The thread had to be removed for cleaning and has been restored.
