Rambling Rogue, Goofy Gopher - */F - Feet.

Nah, it's an easy pun, not a bad joke. 😀

...

Wanna know?

Please! I've taken my best shot! Though others might like a chance first (wouldn't want to rob anyone of their opportunity to shine!)

I dunno if others can guess it but... sure! Why ruin people the fun?
It's not always about posting pics and downloading stuff.

So guys... here we go with a quiz for you guys to tease your brainyard with.

"Ladrella", spot the pun behind the name.

[Of course you can pm me to know the truth... 😉 ]

Hey, I learned a new Italian word! Thanks Kal! It does make the character more interesting once the whole story is known!

Har har har!

😀 😀 😀

Where would I be without you, bumping my threads up, man? 🙂

...

Yep, easy pun as I said, but it works without being obtrusive, since it's...
Ach, I'm saying too much.

😉

EDIT:

Actually, there is another story behind that name.
Well... a parallel tale.

You see... [yeah, it's getting boring here, you better get a soda or something. Ice tea for me...] I used to play AD&D when I was younger and none the wiser.

A module of old, "Not all that glitters" if I recall well, used to have the usual cast of pre-rolled chars.

One of them, a female rogue, bore the name of Delana Redblade.
No big deal, I can hear you saying.

Well... not if you happen to live near... say... Boston. Maybe Reno. Saltlake City. Vegas or Frisco even.

But if you happen to live somewhere where italian folks are the predominant form of life... well... just tell them that name, and you'll have them chuckling a bit.

Why, you might ask...
Well... I'll be explaining that later.

Said and typed a lot, in one go.

😉

Hey, I live pretty close to Frisco, too (San Francisco, to the natives... always San Francisco. They froth at the mouth, otherwise). Small wonder I'm clueless! Well, looks like it's back to research. I'm 0 for 1, too... the pressure's on! Better do better. I don't dare strike out during the playoffs!

Another tidbit of info: Candella.
From B3, Palace of the Silver Princess.

Enough for now.

😀 😀 😀

Lots more reading, more scant results. I learned very little about Candella (only that she's called Candella the thief, and that she appears during D&D game play); I couldn't discover a useful root translation (Cand, Cande, Cando, Canda... all goose eggs). Some interesting info about B3, Palace of the Silver Princess: a turbulent release history, plenty of pictorial snafus. As to Delana Redblade, it occured to me earlier today that "del" translates into the word "from" in Spanish. I find that it means "of" in Italian, not that different. I therefore break the name into "del" "ana", with the obvious proctological implications, though no varietion of "ana" I used led a viable smirk-producing Italian translation. Again, this is the best I can do. I'm hoping for a bit of partial credit at this point.

Well, I should shed some light.

"De lana" in some central italian dialects means "made of wool". As in standard italian "di lana".

This sweater is made of wool, "questo maglione è fatto di lana".

...

So calling a char "Delana" elicits funny remarks from most people around Rome.

...

Candella... no reference to XVI century Duchess of Foix, maybe implied by Tom Moldway, but that name stuck in my mind as the archetypal female fantasy name for thief chars.

...

So, Delana and Candella, both female rogues, kept lingering in my mind for a good while.

Let say... mmm... about 15 years I guess.
No big deal, people grow to remember facts from 30 or 60 years before.

...

With some luck [depending on whose point of view] I might get to remember facts from 60, too.

But I'm rambling.
As I love to do.

...

Short story made long... er... took Delana and Candella and went for a funny sounding word, that could work as a genuine fantasy name, but actually was a pun.

...

Enter "Ladrella".

...

Oh... and I guess I misclicked that "Send PM" button...

😀

BUMP!
Thanks for this very good work. You are a true talent, and I
don't throw that word around lightly. Talent is not some magic
power people are born with, it is the desire to produce coupled
with damned hard work. If you work hard enough it looks
easy and people take it for granted. Ain't life a bitch?
Anyway other artists can see the work and desire clearly
and appreciate it for what it is. I do and I thank you for it.

* Bows *

I'd like to see some sculpture of yours.
You mentioned some in your previous posts.

🙂

Thanks man. Those sculpts rock my world. 🙂

Sadly... this little thread of mine/us is struggling to reach 2k hits.
I guess I went for the wrong title.
It's getting old and I'm no more in love with this pic.
I'll be deleting it and moving it to my [free] Group in a while.

...

But I really thank you, and you guys, for bumping up my threads.
I guess it's tough keeping up with a madman like myself, who keeps deleting pics and then complains cause people aren't clicking them!

😀 😀 😀

...

On my behalf I can say I'm reasonably crazy.

EDIT 01:

I know I might sound harsh, it's just a pic, I could simply leave it behind.
It's just me, I'm never really satisfied with pics I do.

😉

EDIT 02:

Had a change of heart.
It doesn't look so bad, after all, so I uploaded the pic again.
