Sometimes when I hear verbal references to words such as tickle, tickling or ticklish, I find myself getting a bit piqued and flustered. For example, the other day at work, some of my coworkers were discussing a new version of the "Tickle Me Elmo" toy. They were also giggling and laughing during their conversation. After listening to them talk about ticklish Elmo for a while, I eventually had to go to the men's room and apply cold water to my face. Does anything like this ever happen to any of you? Or is it just me? Thanks.

I tend to get a bit flustered myself. However, I play it cool like tickle talk doesn't affect me. However, I'm sure it's hard to hide sometimes.

I'm better than I used to be but inside I still feel very self conscious if anyone is talking about it- or worse- doing it.

whenever I hear conversations about tickling, I feel an almost overwhelming desire to get in the conversation and steer it toward a discussion about how ticklish THEY are. I've done that many times with acquaintances. It's great fun. I used to get flustered and try to hide it years ago, but now, I just have to be involved.

I was never really open with my family about any aspect of tickling and my life being connected other than the fact that my brother tickled me a lot as a kid.

I was found out, and soon after I was finding my folks attempting to roust me out of my head bringing up tickling just to see if I were to get uncomfortable/aroused by the mere thought of it. I learned extremely quickly to not react to it. Just treat it as a blank thought. Merely stay quiet and keep a straight face to it.

You're not the only one, Feathery. I have the same reaction when women discuss either tickling or feet, I often have to leave the room and calm myself down.

There have definately been times i have been suprised during conversations when the magic words are said, but worse for me is females showing off thier feet. Sometimes i can't focus on the task at hand because of it! lol

Thank you all for your thoughts. I definitely try to remain cool when I hear those words as well, although a few months ago my fortitude was sorely tested. Again, at work, a fellow in the office was talking about a Howard Stern show he had seen, where an actress was being tickled in Howard's "tickle chair". This prompted a pretty, young female coworker to start conversing about how ticklish she is, and how her brothers used to hold her down and tickle her for what seemed like an eternity, when she was a kid. I had to summon all my strength and willpower to act nonchalant during her ticklish admission, even though I thought of little else for the rest of the week!

Same here. Doing it is worst for me to deal with, but a friend of mine and I refuse to say it. It's always shortened to something like, "So he was getting me good" or "and it.. you know.. was going on." It's pretty ridiculous, but when either of us slips up, we both go, "God! Ah! *shuddersquirm* Christ, we're retarded."

Yes, I must admit, overheard references to tickling and feet etc, do make it kinda difficult to concentrate on the task at hand. 😉 :xpulcy:

I would be the person that gets very quiet and slowly slinks off to the corner. If asked anything in reference to it, it's responded to with lots of stutters, no eye contact, and shrugging.

Sometimes I get a little bit giggly, but that is usually if someone is asking me if I am ticklish or pretends like they might try.
