rock is dead

:Grrr: so im 15 am i? that makes me wonder how old you are neutron. i find it incredibly juevenile for you to be taking potshots at me because of my personal preference in songs. i dont owe you any explanations. i happen to think that all music has sucked since 1995 but you dont see me jumping in and judging anyone who likes tool or matchbox20. yeah there are better hendrix songs then purple haze...but not to me. there are better doors songs then l.a woman....but not to me. i got my own musical standards. that dont mean im gonna start insulting people cause their idea of a good song is different from mine. but since your gonna assume that you know all about me on the basis of one song that i like..ill just assume that you wouldnt know a good song if it slapped you in the face and leave it at that.

I have never been a fan of what's popular at the moment.

When I was in high school, everyone was listening to rock n roll and I was listening to big band music. (God, I was a strange kid!) LOL! In college, I spent more time playing Mozart than anything else.

I did go see the Eagles last month. (Because they were in town) I like the 'feel' of that stuff. Granted, I consider them to be "oldies"...hehe I think RUSH is a great band. Their music is technically top notch and the lyrics are the least boring of any rock band whilst still holding onto the flow of language. Just my two cents. I've always liked blues, but I feel as a genre it's mostly hit and miss when it comes to quality.

However....given the reasons stated in previous posts, you can see why I'm now into Jazz. 😛 Take a day with any jazz great and you'll give up rock for good if you are a muscian in heart.

Lying Eyes..

Is my favorite Eagles tune. It has an underlying lesson, which I like.

To the guy who started this thread. I call them as I see them. Sorry dude.

Man the Allmans. WOOHOO. I love the Allmans.

Once I got puked on at an Ozzy Concert. I was pissed for days. Still am 🙂

Tron...It was a great concert! If they come to your area on this tour, I highly recommend going. I thoroughly enjoyed myself in spite of the crowd.

The "funny" part of the puking incident came a while later for us. We were right near where the guy hurled. This gal came along on her cell phone. It happened to be someone who we'd seen indulging quite freely in weed and booze, though she was clearly underage. She appeared to be trying to get away from some of the chatter to carry on with her conversation. She went right for the spot where the guy had left a sizable puddle. She was so wasted that she obviously didn't smell it. So, we tried to warn her before she sat in it. The first time, she just squatted and got it on her shoes. Then, a few minutes later, she came back and DID sit in it. I know it must have been aweful when she came down and realized it. But, we couldn't help laughing just a bit. After all, we DID try to warn her!

It's been a long time since I've been to a concert. I thoroughly enjoyed the music (and esp. sharing it with Drew). But, I don't miss the days of being in a crowd of several thousand people who seem to be trying to outdo one another in getting drunk and/or stoned. I have no problem with drinking or smoking pot. I've done both plenty of times. But, I don't get the sense of spending that kind of money (except for those who jumped the fence) for a concert and being so far gone that you couldn't possibly enjoy it. :sowrong:

I never liked Rush. I believe the only thing they did that was decent was Free Will. And the only reason I give that any credit is the line If you choose not to decide you've still not made a choice. ( I don't allow ANY fence sitters where I work, either you have an opinion or I fire you, I've fired 12 people in the last 2 years for being wishy washy).

You might have to change your belief system, at least how it's connected to the song "Freewill". The actual line you quote is: "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." Completely opposite in spirit to the dichtom you've gotten out of it. That's the true meaning of freewill.😎

LOL..

Damn. I cleaned the Sh*t out of my ears and guess what? You're right. Even at that, the way the lyric is actually written is still kick ass and says the exact same thing about Free Will. Different slant though.

Thanks

For those of you talking about "Johnny B. Goode" covers, check out Judas Priest's version.

For possibly the shittest Johnny B Goode cover ever made, check out NoFX's version. Recorded when they were around 18, I think they actually substituted some of the lyrics for 'I don't know what the fuckin words are for this bit'. They just don't make songs like that anymore 🙄
