rude chat room people!

I've been a member since 2004 and only just recently (within the last few months) started visiting the chat. I've met some really awesome members on there! I now have some pretty good friends that I wouldn't have otherwise met! I've also met some trolls, jerks, creeps and losers, but you would find that almost anywhere: online or not.

It's not all that bad, I guess some days are better than others?
I'm sorry you had a bad experience... But maybe you'll be up for another try and make some new friends 🙂

It's cute how people make all kinds of jusgements and throw all kinds of insults around instead of just apologizing when they have been rude, disrespectful and stupid. I mean, there are 5 chatroom rules and if you have violated 3 of them in one visit and then come here to rant about it, I don't think anything anyone here tells you is going to sink in.

It's as simple as this: The chatroom has 5 rules and if you don't like them, you are free to go find somewhere else to chat. If someone objects to your violating them, please just apologize and don't do it again.

Personally I get PM'd all the time by people I dont know and respond to them politely still in PM mode no thanks or hey nice to meet you. I dont put them on blast in the main chat room. Understandably the "creepers" the ones who don't understand no means no, need to be put on blast so the moderators can get involved.
Sarah there's nothing wrong with you, keep being the same person you are and don't let the "people who have nothing better to do then rag on other people" make you feel any different or change.

I get PMed as well and I have no issue talking to them. If they're weird, I just tell them I don't want to talk to them. If they keep it up, IGNORE. It's unbelievably simple. Hell I don't even bother with main chat anymore, I just have it up in case one of my friends pops in so they can PM me.

most of the people who go in the chatroom are people who dont see the light of day, thats why they act so ridiculous over PMing. ive never seen a chatroom where people get so pissy about pcs.. if you dont like it, then dont go in the chatroom. there is a few sane ones though!

quite honestly, being one of the people who HATE pc's without permission.... i do see the light of day... i cant tell you how many times, being a female, i get pc'd... its overly annoying when my profile states 'ask before you pc' AND theres the rule to ask before you pc- that is 2 times they've been asked, yet they do it anyways. THATS why i get irritated. as already stated, there are 5 rules, and yea some like cursing are kinda silly to enforce, but the pc one is one in which (mostly females) do appreciate and appreciate it being respected as well..... just a thought.

Couple of thoughts:

- The post before you PM thing is kinda annoying but I understand why it's around. If I am on and I see someone I haven't seen before I usually try to say hi and welcome and all that.

- Like the personals, the place sometimes becomes overwhelmed by shady ppl. These guys will come in and PM every woman on in the room several times and they never start off with "Hi how are you?" but something like "Can I see your feet" or 'I would love to take all your clothes off and tickle you for hours". My one friend I met off here eventually left the forum and she told me all this stuff led to it. Women should be treated with respect, not sex objects. As with everything else on here, the few ruin things and chase people away before they can even meet the nice people that are on here.

- Though sometimes the ladies immediately assume you are just trying to get in their pants from the begining and instead of maybe treating each guy like they are ok until proven otherwise, immediately assume they aren't and will cry foul just if you say hi.

I used to go on a lot, last couple years I only go on if I KNOW one of my friends is going to be on and that's really the only way we can chat since sending 50 million messages is annoying.

first off all read chick like me its a thread on here and very insightful to how females go under the gun when it comes to the pc issues..... secondly it is actually really easy to click ignore. i mean what do u do if ur in a waiting room or in a situation where someone is talking to u and u dont want to talk to them, i tell you what you do u ask them to stop if they dont you ignore them....

And when it comes to cliques well those just simply dont exist.....

Hi Sarah, it's best to steer clear from the chat room permanently. I believe that's one thing that's been in discussion to remove since it's not used very much and the people in there spend way too much time online as it is. You can have a much more enjoyable "chat" via the forums. Otherwise, there are various AIM groups as well that chat too. Steer clear of the chat, and get to know people on the forums.

i disagree with this statement whole-heartedly.. though there ARE some people who spend way too much time online, I don't believe it's fair to say everyone in digichat is that way... furthermore... people in digichat ARE people in the forum.

I used to be a regular in the chat. I remember the OLD chatroom. When someone pmed you, a great big window would appear that would blot out everything else. Boom. There it was. Of course, it wouldn't be 'hello'. It would be "M or F?"
"A."
Pause.
"A?"
"Yep. Antelope."
"Um"
"Yes, Antelope. Are you gonna tell me animals are not allowed in here? Who the hell are you to make that rule?"
Pause.
"What's your shoe size?"
"19. Female. Hey, more for you to love, right?"
Pause.
The window disappears.

Those pop up windows became annoying, though...and one had a good reason to complain in those days. The current chat has it so that the pms are not as intrusive, but they can never be less annoying. I stopped going in because of a Java issue-they wanted me to download a whole new browser, and I'm like, what for? My life is immeasurably better by not being in the TMF chat. It went very much downhill- back in '03 and '04, the conversations were fantastic. Later on, it became just a bunch of clowns yelling shit back and forth. I don't miss anything.
