Well - 808K views of the original Scenes of Desperation thread. I intentionally avoided padding my own post to better judge public interest and to let free thought prevail.

Thanks for everyon'e input. I love the occassional inclusions of SOD themes by several artisits as part of their larger storylines, but I'm a bit disappointed no one has yet dedicated an entire comic to the desperation / predicament theme.

So, I'd like to propose a contest and public poll to entice artists of all styles to submit current or new artwork, with winner selected by the forum membership.

Rules:

1. Submit at least 1 work to [email protected] that meets the general spirit of this thread's original post...we'll defer to artistic interpretation. We'll also defer to the artists to define "work" as they see fit...comic, graphic novel, drawing, poser, animation, etc.

2. Works will be submitted now through 1 Jun 12, with a public forum member voting period to follow

3. Works judged on talent, originality and best representation of theme

4. Prize: $500

Hopefuly this will shake the trees a bit...looking forward to your submissions.

Wow, that is quite the offer.

I really am curious to see what comes from this.

Hell of a prize. But then depending on what comes out of it. It's like you're commissioning all the contestants and paying only one so it works.

ahahaha Gotta say, anyone who falls for this scam deserves the humiliation they'll get and feel! $500 is a clear con!

I wonder where those 500 $ would come from.
I wonder why work shall be emailed. Cool way of getting good work shipped home for free?
I wonder why the rest of this forum shall not see all the stuff.

And I really wonder, will we ever know if and who got the money?

These thoughts did cross my mind as I initially read the offer. It certainly could be interpreted as a scam. There is a however here. The OP is being baselessly accused without any prior known malfeasance. It is not like he just created an account and put up the offer. He has been around for a few years.

Obviously, most anything on the Net comes with a big caveat emptor stamped on it. Like I said in my original post I am curious to see what comes of this. I am certainly hoping for the best.

It should not be very amazing to read doubtful questions to such an offer.
Maybe the original poster could explain a little, what he plans to do and where he wants to get 500 $.

Well, there are people out there who do have $500 kicking around. They are perfectly willing to spend it if they can get what they want. 😉

My suggestion to verify this would be to get in direct contact with a moderator and share a phone call. If the person is willing to pony up $500 then they are not all that paranoid about privacy.

It is all up to them. If the art is desired that badly and the OP wants this to happen. It will happen. Otherwise it won't and we all go back to living our lives.

Wow - turn my back for a day and get accused of everything except the grassy knoll shooting. Bottom line - if the forum admins want me to withdraw the offer I will.

Now to some posed questions:

1. I set up the private email to keep the submissions hidden from competitive artisits...so they wouldn't know who they had to beat or what they had to do to beat them.

2. My plan is for all works will be released to the forum after the cutoff date, with membership voting to determine a winner.

3. If an artist thinks it's a scam - then don't enter.

Just thought it would be an interesting way to encourage new works from current and new artists.

Don't call it accuse, people are just wondering.

It is. But I guess you admit that it also is a very unusual way so it might not be bad to clarify the backgrounds a little more.

this sounds gr8, this has always been my favorite thread, and hope this gr8ly increases works of this scene

Partecipating isn't a big deal for me, so let's go!

Hmmm.... This does sound like an interesting contest and we do need more original desperation scenes....

I'll see what I can do!

Correction, *most* people are wondering. Stuff like this however...

ahahaha Gotta say, anyone who falls for this scam deserves the humiliation they'll get and feel! $500 is a clear con!

...is outright accusatory. If people want more details, fair enough, but there are definitely nicer ways to go about asking for them. It's a shame people couldn't be more polite because the contest sounds like a great idea and very generous.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what the talented folks around here come up with, great idea Tizzy!

I'm from Somerset, we're not as word shy as you lot! If something don't look right, we don't hide behind lots of sneaky words, we just come straight out and say it! $500 for winning a fetish based drawing contest looks extremly damn shadey! If it was a hell of a lot less like $50 or so, it would look plausible... But $500 for drawing some bird getting tied up and tickled? That just don't look right!

Well, if you think about it, the guy who started the contest might get 25 people to draw submissions for this very specific kind of fantasy. So, in essence, he'd be getting 25 images for $500. When you work it out that way, that's not such a bad deal.

That is a very good way of putting it!

Again, I would like to stress that $500 may be much money to you. However, that does not translate to that amount being much to other people. There are wealthy people in this world believe it or not.

Honestly, that money is three decent trips to a champagne room. With the art he gets more bang for his proverbial buck. My God, there are producers who make the videos which we watch. I am sure that they have more than $500 lying around. How do you think that they pay for the models and escorts?

Sheesh! :lol I'm not saying that it is or isn't, my point is that people do have money out there.

...If you win I'll give you a choice between $50 and $500.

To clarify again, whatever art is submitted will be shared with the forum, not kept in my private stash...so everyone will benefit!

wow this just sounds gr8, hope we c a lot of new piecies cuz this thread is certainly my favorite

Still on. Received numerous emails from artists but no submissions yet.

Sad to say

Despite 4 months lead time and several emails from artists, not a single work was submitted by yesterday's deadline. Hopefully it was successful in increasing the buzz of the desperation topic.

I'll now turn my attention to commissions - if you are an artist and would like to pursue this endeavor, please send me a PM or a note to the yahoo email listed at the start of this thread.

Thanks
