So here's the TFTA #16 cover I used to kick-off the original TT thread, it's from BAC's Laughing Pines masterpiece.

Interestingly I also sponsored an art contest a couple years back for the best desperation image/comic. Unfortunately a few cynics convinced the entire board it was a scam so we didn't get the flood of entries we'd hoped for, but I think we influenced the genre in a very positive way since then. I would still like to see a series of comics dedicated solely to these desperation predicaments...perhaps someday. I'm also open to commissioning talented artists if you're out there.

This cunning little gem is a quintessential example of this thread's theme: Damned if you do, damned if you don't!<p>
This one works because, no matter how titillating one may find the situation, one would have to be made of stone not to feel for Ms. Carter.<br> Back in the Silver Age, one felt sorry for Peggy because, while Captain America had been in suspended animation on ice for decades, time HAD marched on for her. It was a caution for this young reader that, in comics--even Marvel Comics--the woman ALWAYS gets screwed!

You know, it's the craziest thing. I've seen this image so many times over the years, and it wasn't until seeing your post that I bothered to actually look at the detail. I always thought it was little more than a woman bound, gagged and tickled -only the suggestion that it was a 'scene of desperation' got me to look closer. It's taken on a whole new life, thanks Tizzy!
